I appreciate this sentiment.  I have never understood the uproar that seems to inevitably follow these boys (by the way, they are all different.  So people can drop the "it's probably one person" bit.)  It's a message board and different people have different ways of getting comedic.  If you see a thread started by one of these chums, just don't click on it.  As hard as it may seem, it can be done.  And you may not believe it, but if you continue to post in the thread ON TOPIC, these same nerds will respond in intelligent ways as well as goofy ways.  They refrain from being random and elementary in other forums because it's not at all appropriate or accepted in those forums.  But they also enjoy some random banter and they will encourage anyone of you to play along with them if you think it's even remotely worth it.

You're right about the free speech thing, Megan, and I usually ignore threads started by these guys becuse I know I probably won't inderstand them. The banning John Conoway thread made me angry though.


You're right, I've often been surprised that one or other of them says something quite thought-provoking.


And  I agree with olwiggum as well. It's the sheer volume of incomprehensible nonsense that gets in the way of seeing threads I might find interesting.

I don't see ratsprayer's suggestion as a censure or anything, just a practical solution.

I know you didn't say to ban him. I  just found the title of the thread offensive. Were you really defending him? Had anybody suggested banning him? I'm not aware of it if they did, but maybe that's because I can't follow all the threads any more because of the large volume of nonsense all over this part of the board.

There's been a lot of talk lately about him being banned, doc. I just wanted to draw the line in the sand and show everyone where I stood. A board without Johnconoway is like a hand without the ring finger, dig?
