Anywho, anyone remember the old days when you'd get a new album , put in on the turntable, lie on the ground and unfold that piece of art (most times they wouldn't unfold, just a sleeve) that was the album cover and just immerse yourself in the art and words and music? Talk about escape, I remember the smell and how it would last on some albums longer than others...

Anyone?  ???

erm i missed the joys of vinyl (sorry to say, but i'm a cassette-cd gen. girl) but i still get a little buzz out of taking a new album home that i've been hanging out for, and that first look at the artwork in the booklet...

one of these days i'll get a record player so i can listen to the few bits of vinyl i have... one day  ;)
love a song for the way it makes you feel

However you listen to an album (vinyl, cd, tape...and, um...8 track) an album is FUN.  It's great listening to a bands latest effort, reading the lyrics on the inside, looking at the album art...I still download alot of music, but I much prefer to buy the album itself (when I have money).

I had a few albums but it wasn't long before I started buying cassettes.
I've mentioned this before but it's relevant; my fav bar plays nothing but LPs. The owner has a wall of albums, its a very cool place to drink.
He plays one side & then changes to another LP. He tries to make a musical journey/story each night by connecting his choices.
For example he'll play The Rolling Stones then Gram Parsons then The Byrds then Bob Dylan.
Except his connections aren't usually that obvious  ;)
I'm always asking to take a look at the sleeves.
The only albums I have now are some Elvis Records that my Mum gave me...
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Freshly printed CD booklets have a distinct, exciting smell.  :o

I also like the journeys involved just to get a cd.
Back in mid july of 2002 a friend and I walked to the record store about close to 3-4 miles roundtrip just to get the chili peppers album By the Way.  it was the hottest day of the year too...but it was well worth it and a fun experience.
