Do you like to read? I do. As soon as I finished school, I wanted to dedicate most of my spare time to reading. So far, this year, I've read the Bible, The Missing Ring, 1984, A Voyage Long and Strange, and Eaters of the Dead, The Last Kingdom, Sea of Gray, and Variable Star.

Right now, I'm reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Thus far, it's really good - I have a feeling I might even finish this one before the week is over!

Next on the list...

World War Z by Max Brooks
John Adams by David McCullough
1776 by David McCullough
For Whom The Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway
Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein

...and I also really should read a Kurt Vonnegut novel... I've never even glanced at his work and it really bugs Meg to death.

What are ya'll reading? Do we have a book thread, yet?
--- and that's 2 real 4 u.

My kid, (he's 9) wants me reading THE LIGHTNING THIEF series.  I'm barely past the cover but it's essentially a modern take on mythology.  From what I could tell, Perseus is a main character.  There are 3 books in the series, I think.
Remember, my info is coming from a 9 year old honor student so take it with a grain of salt.  It may not be for growns but if you guys have kids, make em' read instead of watching Hannah Montana or Camp Jonas(or WTF it is called).

Don't raise dummies just because the TV is a good babysitter.
O, How time flies, with crystal clear eyes.  But it's cold, it's cold, when you're ending with diamond eyes.

I love reading. I have a huge collection of history books (you know, when I wanted to be a history teacher) and historical biographies that I'll go through once in a while. However, my favs to read are fantasy and sci fi. Yes I am a dorkasaurus. I read other stuff as well. Really like Tom Perrotta and Nick Hornby also.

Currently I'm re-reading 2 series

Song of Fire and Ice- George RR Martin. Not your typical fantasy. Pretty light on magic. It's more character develop and ass loads of intrigue and twists and turns. GRRM is one of the few authors who can successfully make you completly feel sorry for the antagonist to the point that you end up routing for them. This series is not done however. He is working on 5 and I think has another 3 books planned. I've read some if his other stuff. He is a great author.

Dragon Price/Dragon Star- Melanie Rahn. Just good good stuff.

After those, I plan to go back and finish the Dark Tower series. I probably read Harry Potter again. I've only read the entire series about 10 times now.  :-[

George RR Martin is AWESOME.  There is a great new heavy metal band called The Sword that makes all of their music based on his writings.  Not to be missed if you're into the "heavy" stuff.
