This hurricane looks beyond scary. I heard someone on the Weather Channel say it took up EIGHTY-FIVE percent of the Gulf of Mexico. Good God.

I'm really worried about all the people in coastal towns and cities. Scary stuff.

They sent me out of Houston a day early (thank GOD) because of Ike.

I'm glad to be out of that city...I was supposed to be catching a flight out of there about now, but instead I'm sitting here drinking a beer and having fun with Gold Bond. 8-)

Just saw an image on CNN of Ike crossing the shoreline and I got chills.  I'm not looking forward to seeing the news tomorrow.

I rode out to the beach yesterday to look at the surf.  The waves were 20-25 feet.  This was yesterday on Pensacola Beach, hundreds of mile away.  This storm is big trouble.

yeah, that was a crazy "wind storm".  Winds up to 80 mph.  We got lucky.  My mother-in-law just got power, lizking still doesn't have any power, two of my neighbors have tree limbs on their roofs, school's cancelled today, tomorrow, and likely the next day as only one third of the schools have power right now.  It's pretty wild.  And the weird thing was we got no rain, there weren't any tornados, it was just hours of huge gusts of wind.
