Say it ain't so, Brett.  I was hoping he could lead another team to a disappointing season and add to his career leading INT numbers, but it looks like the old man has had enough... again.

WTF is Bret Ratliff and Babe Laufenberg??

So BDR - are you a Ratbird fan or do you just live in DC/MD?? Ill definitely shed some tears if you lose T-Sizzle, Barf Scott, or the Murderer  :'(

Not a Ravens fan.  Live in B'more, not DC/MD.  Like saying you live in Philly/PA.  C'mon

Die hard Jets fan with the Bears a close second.

You can look up Babe Laufenberg.

Bret Ratliff is one of the Jets' three QBs along with Clemens and Ainge.  He tore it up this past preseason and looked the best of the bunch.  Hoping he gets a chance

Looks like the Saints released Deuce today.

QuoteLooks like the Saints released Deuce today.

end of an era today, he's knees jst aren't what they used to be.
I think the Saints need to get another RB in the draft, perhaps Knowshon Moreno or Chris Wells. We're picking 14th and need some sort of a DB, but Reggie Bush isn't an NFL caliber RB to go a whole year.

Deuce,

Gotta go DB first though I guess Jenkins won't be around then.  I don't know who you are losing but the Saints seem to be only a D player or two and scheme change away from a worst to first considering how the Panthers and Bucs are aging.

Not too much to ask right? ;)

I cant see the Saints drafting a RB in the first round, they have bigger holes to fill. RB is one of the easiest positions to get a starting caliber player out of the 3rd-5th rounds too, especially when youre looking for a guy to be more of a complement to Bush than someone more similar to him like Moreno.

The Saints will get a DB, but my point is Bush is not an NFL RB. Mcallister had more yards per carry on 2 bum knees and about 8 more years of beatings. Bush will be one of those Desmond Howard or Dante Hall guys who will star on special teams, but the Saints will not build a running attack around Reggie Bush. Moreno will run over your ass where Bush won't.

Agreed hes not a 3 down back, but youre selling him short if youre comparing him to Howard or Hall. He was having a hell of a year last year before he got hurt - I would know since he was on my fantasy team and was a Top 5 RB before he got hurt. He probably wont ever average much over 4 YPC, if that, but he is lethal as a receiver whether he's lined up in the backfield or out wide

Bush is best utilized outside the tackles or catching passes out of the backfield. He's never been a between-the-tackles kinda guy. And yeah, he was having a pretty good year until he got injured. Damn shame.

Also, you guys are right. The Saints most DEFINITELY need a DB.

I realize Bush is talented and all that, but my initial post was about the Saints losing their "running attack" not their "swing pass out of the backfield attack" or "quick toss attack". I think they are now in a position where they will have to find someone who can establish a "running game". Pierre Thomas had some nice flashes last year, and we all know Brees is the man and we are A-OK at QB, but as a Saints fan, I am now concerned with our "running attack".

aMillionDreams

I hear what you are saying, Tracy, Pierre Thomas is a similar back to Bush.  You all need a bruiser, unless you're going to go to a full-time spread/run-and-gun offense.  But I also think drafting a high profile back would be a waste of a pick and money. You can snag a good running back in later rounds or in free agency.

AMightyCaporal

think about how many 3rd down backs there are... most unknown. So many good ones.  Patrick Cobbs from Miami for example.  I bet there are a ton of them just waiting to get their shot to be the go to guy.
Oh I'll never say I knew you, but my heart can't wait to meet you on the other side

I'm not sure I agree that Pierre Thomas is a Bush type back.  I'm biased as an Illini but he is capable of running between the tackles and as we have seen everywhere, a capable defense and passing game can make a very efficient running back by committee offense w/o big names so long as your main RB is not the aforementioned Reggie Bush.

Shit, look at what Mewelde Moore did in Pitt, or LaRon McClain and Ray Rice in B'more.  I think that any decent back will be enough in the Saints' running game so long it isn't that high steppin' fool from USC.
