Sticky Icky Green Stuff

Is anybody here into animation or video art?  I'm looking for a quality editor/creator; tool/software for my PC that allows me to make animated videos.  I've heard of programs where you can make digital 3D landscapes but I'm not sure which are the sweetest and most user friendly.  Any help would be appreciated.
