I live a short walk from the American River Parkway,  Nimbus dam and fish hatchery. It's 25 plus miles of river  and trails for bikes, horses, hiking. Lots of fish birds, snakes, lizards and animals of all sorts. Squirrels, skunks, raccoons, coyotes, deer, even mountain loins sometimes. I take my camera along here are some shots.

Thanks I got a bunch like those. I like those birds and they're thick when the fish run. Can you see the coyote in the pic above?

I did spot that yes (not at first though!) & the deer popping his head up. What are those birds, Turkey Vultures? Have you seen a mountain lion?

Hey thanks guys. :) Good call, they are turkey vultures ;) Good eye on the deer, I was kind of stalking her, more likely the other way around. No mountain lion yet. Heres more

Hey, I didn't know there were Big Horn Sheep on the American River!!!  ;)

Those are great pics Sheriff, especially that turtle! I've never seen one on the river, great find! You ever go to the Effie Yeaw Nature Center? It's on the opposite side of the river from you guys, but it's really cool...TONS of deer and turkeys. All the bucks are just starting to regrow their antlers, but if you go in the summer, you can see 10+ point bucks in there!

Hey, about the ballgame, I'm going to pass for a while, till later in the summer. We're just letting everything settle after our move, and I need to spend time on the house...my project list is HUGE!!! Plus, we just haven't even gotten to a point where we can relax at home yet. I'll let ya know when I get some time.  8-)

I used to always see turtles in this river as a kid. It wasn't too long ago I found where a lot are. You need to sneak up on them or they spook and dive in the river. They got good ears they even hear the camera click and take off. You got me on the sheep ( Denver zoo before MMJ at Red Rocks last summer)
I usually stay on my side of the river, walking or I park at the fish hatchery because it's free. Otherwise it's 4 dollars. Some times I ride my bike but can't stand the biking crowd at the parkway they own it or they think they do. Lots of nice parks and cool stuff here. I really don't do as much as I could.
No worries about game I know how it is I raised a few tricycle motors myself. Plenty of games left sort of. Season seems long it's not. But I'll get you out there someday. Though Leon and Walts will probably probably beat you to it. They are in Philly and Mn. Where do you live, again? ;)

Glad you like it. Some leathertramps were feeding him beer though a straw at the boat ramp. I asked them to stop and put him back in the river. They were ok guys just drunk, homeless and bored. They didn't hurt him. I hope.
You used to be able to take turtles and frogs for food there when I was a boy. Not so much now. Cheers Bro :)
