Proposition 19...and legalization!

I personally think it's retarded that we spend so much money fighting this drug, but we are OK with people drinking and smoking cigarettes, which have far worse health effects. The fact that we send people to jail for possession is beyond belief... There are plenty of reasons to legalize.

I am just curious about peoples thoughts when it comes to this subject.

Pot possession has been largely decriminalized in Canada. I'm ok with this, but I don't think pot is harmless (and recent medical studies suggest the drug is addictive). However, I hope California votes for legalization or at the least, decriminalization.

Agreed.  It may not have passed in Cali yesterday, but I think the vote was closer than a lot of people probably expected and it won't take that long to close the gap.

Also, just by the fact that legalization became a ballot issue is HUGE in and of itself.  And with the growing numbers across the country that favor legalization, I feel it's not a matter of if as much as when!

yep we just gotta press the issue hard.  especially on any political forum or radio show.  spread the positive word.  when people realize they'd save money and be safer if weed was legalized I think the vote would be overwhelmingly for legalization.

a bit of a bummer for sure.   Part of the problem, IMO, is that several of the traditional 'grow' states even voted this down, see link below of county by county breakdown.  Counties like Humboldt, Mendocino, Trinity and others voted against this...not because of how the actually believe, but because of pure greed.  If it became legal thousands and thousands of folks up there would lose some serious money, it's in their best financial interest to keep it illegal, thus keeping the price of their product high.  Kind of sucks if you ask me.

it would have been on the michigan ballot but one judge, one single person cockblocked it.  saying that some wording that was on the back of the form, a sentence or something, should have been on the front.  they had a 1000more signatures than they needed too.  67percent are pro-legalization here.  it's fucked.
