I really liked The Shield too, really that and The Sopranos were the only shows I watched season after season until watching all of The Wire a couple years ago (within a couple months)...That reminds me I missed the last season of The Shield and I heard its a great season and the finale is one of the best..I think that was season 7? Might start back with 5, I think thats when Forest Whitaker came into the picture, and work my way to 7.

I'll def be watching Boardwalk Empire and Walking Dead, I just like to stack up episodes because I usually end up watching 2-3 in a row and the whole season in a week or two. I hate waiting for the next episode. Did that with Terriers this season and now am caught up to the season finale thats on tomorrow. Solid and entertaining show.

QuoteAnyone sticking with Boardwalk Empire?  I got HBO for Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Pacific, then was gonna cut it loose.  Now, with BE and Bored to Death, I have to keep my HBO.

Agent Van Alden is blowing me away with his fervor.  I had to pick my jaw off the floor after this last episode; Michael Shannon shows once again he is good at playing crazy (see Revolutionary Road).  And I love Steve Buscemi in a lead role.

My favorite secondary character is Richard Harrow (played by Jack Huston), the WWI vet/sniper who lost most of the left side of his face.  Amazing effects when they show him without his prosthetic face, an interesting mix of compassion and violence in his manner.

Great show!

Agreed.  Loving it more and more as I watch.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

This past week's episode was fantastic....the last two were so-so, and all others have been great.
Agreed, VanAlden totally kills that part!  So incredibly disturbing, and I was also floored by his performance this week. It's one of those weird mixes of being totally fascinated and totally repelled at once by him.
The revelation about Jimmy's father, his connections with Nucky, and his health condition were also somewhat shocking!  I really sat up and paid attention this week and may watch this episode again.   Though I don't find Jimmy Darmody to be the best actor, his eye-candy factor MORE than makes up for it!
Season Finale this week! Went by so fast!

This, this, this!  They're really pulling out all the stops as the season wraps up.

I'll add that the storyline with Jimmy's mother was a bit of a revelation too - for me, anyway!  Was totally confused whether that was actually his mother or not.

I just realized FOX canceled Lone Star after only two episodes, why oh why? I quite liked that show! It had a promising story damnit...  :'(

You shouldn't be surprised. It's FOX, the same network that cancelled Firefly and keeps The Cleveland Show and Simpsons on the air.

QuoteFor all the survival type show fans/Canadians, anyone watch Mantracker? I really want to do that show. I think it's kinda cool that the winners don't get prize money or anything. Just pure pride for their accomplishment.  8-)

Yes, I watch that from time to time. I like when they put on wanna-be thugs/tough guys that smoke and drink non stop and then realize they're not so tough

Such meanies, I wish they'd at least release the episodes they've already recorded online or something like that or have a little faith in the show and keep it! Damnit!  >:(

4 episodes into boardwalk empire as per johnnyyac's reviews and recommendation.   pretty bad ass for a show that's based in the 20's.  can't stand Mad Men (ducks), that old flaky old fashion shit bores the hell out of me but you guys were right boardwalk empire is no joke.  I'm pumped to see two face.  also, I really want to bone most of the chicks on this show, especially that poor abused bitch, so fine.

steve is great as always, one of the best actors of our time.  he's surprisingly versatile.  pleasantly surprised with this one.  a show about prohibition is sweet as fuck.

Terriers season finale was great...Last few episodes of the season really took it up a notch. Apparently Im the only person who watched this show so itll probably be cancelled, but everyone should check it out. And no, its not about dogs.

The theme song is pretty sweet too, kind of has a Sublime vibe.

Anyone else as excited for Justified Season 2 as I am? It's starting in Feb but I can't wait, that show just did it for me, I put it on par, quality-wise with Sons of Anarchy (also on FX)...so much so that through it I have discovered a new favorite author, Elmore Leonard who wrote the characters and the pilot was orginally a short story of his 'Fire in the hole' feat. in his short story collection 'When the Women Come Out to Dance.'

Since I have read several of his novels, short story collection which all fall in line with Justified's sense of comic-violence involving interesting and fun criminals. Some good reads of his: Pronto, Rum Punch (QT's Jackie Brown is based on this book), Hombre, Maximum Bob, Tishomingo Blues, Killshot, Out of Sight

I like the balance of individual storyline episodes and overarching story throughout the first season.

Plus how badass is Raylan Givens?

Sets up great for season 2 as well!

I thought they overdid the individual storyline episodes as it felt like most of episodes 3-8/9 were individual from what I remember, and to me it took some momentum from the Crowder storyline. The episode with the dentist played by Alan Ruck was 1 of the best of the season though, as was the hostage situation one. I actually read somewhere they had planned on killing Boyd Crowder in the 2nd or 3rd episode (whichever Raylan shot him in), but I guess the test audiences really liked the character so they kept him alive (I think they mentioned that as a reason why there was such a long string of episodes where he wasnt in, because Goggins was busy with filming Predators). Either way, I thought the last 4-5 episodes really finished off the season nicely and the "new" Boyd storyline was awesome.

I thought the show was good, but not great, with potential to get better. That said, I think I watched the entire season in one sitting, maybe 2. Definitely excited for its return and wondering if the individual vs. arching storyline episodes will be the same or different.

Right now, Im mostly pissed that FX cancelled Terriers  >:(..I actually liked it more than Justified, and they really marketed it poorly and mismanaged it. I know its ratings werent strong, but I thought since FX has such a great track record with shows (Testees is the only bad one that I recall), they wouldve given Terriers another season to try and build the fanbase. Everyone I know that watched it loved it and thought the season got better every episode.

Agreed! I thought the last two episodes were great! Love the conspiracy brewing as well as the news Van Alden got from the floozie!Classic....
Seems like the season went SO fast!

Now I have to start watching Dexter.  I only saw the first few episodes of the first season, through Netflix, and was TOTALLY fascinated with it.  Gotta get back to that!

Dexter is one of the most bad ass shows ever written.  Season 4 is mindblowingly good, hold on to your butts.

Dexter is great but skip season 2. The whole crazy stalker plot is way too overdone. I hate how whenever there's a stalker plot in a show, the stalker can walk around and skirt around all rules of social convention....Plus Lila was the most annoying character on tv

I just started watching Dexter through Netflix as well, just finished season 1. I think it would be a terrible idea to skip a whole season even if its not quite up to par with others. If your gonna commit to a show like that just go in order, I wouldn't want to be confused about future events in other seasons. Absolutely terrible advice.  [smiley=thumbdown.gif]

Just starting episode 6 now!  Brilliant!
