Skateboarding hurts.  I'm not even trying to do anything cool, I'm just riding it and trying to go up and down the tabletop up by the park here in town and learning to ollie.  I'm going to be sore when I wake up  :-/

It's already been a very LONG week. In addition, I have to pick up my mum from the airport tomorrow afternoon as she's staying with us till Sunday. I do not get along with her very well. Ou relationship is strained at best. I'm the "bad child" because I moved away, and she's craaaaazy. She's turning into a more spiteful, judgemental, bitter old woman. I think I will stop at the Liquor Store and stock up on vodka to make it to Sunday.

What's your size? They run small so I'd advise you to go up one size, not sure if that helps. Black is a good color for hoodies.

When the Daily Show shot in Columbus Jon Stewart noted that people seemed to be required to own at least three red hooded sweatshirts.  I just so happen to own three myself.  Coincidence?

XL will have to do cos I gots to add that to my "Dear Santa" list. Black is alright; for some reason I was hoping for something blue or red.  :-?

Several times. Montgomery Inn Boathouse is required BBQ eating. I just prefer the look of black in my hoodies, and I am from Nebraska where there is just as much, if not more red then OH.

It's black and furry but not that big. It's in the loungeroom so I've decided to not go in there for a while. We really only see bugs and stuff in summer. Last February a blue tongue lizard that was about a metre long walked into the house when my sister opened the front door. It's hilarious talking about it now but back then I was freaked out!

Australian Spiders - The Funnel-Web Spider

The Sydney Funnel-web Spider (Atrax robustus) is one of 36 species of funnel-web spiders in Australia. Funnel-web spiders prefer moist cool habitats and are found in the south eastern regions of Australia. They live in silk lined burrows and crevices. Their hideouts can easily be identified by the characteristic trip lines radiating from the entrance of the burrow.
Sydney Funnel-web Spider

The Sydney Funnel-web Spider is mostly found within a radius of 160km from Sydney. (There have been occasional sightings a bit further away.)

It is large (up to 4.5cm for just the body), black, aggressive, and has powerful fangs.

The males often wander into houses, especially in summer and autumn, on their search for females...

It's the time when most Sydney Funnel-web Spider bites happen.

How dangerous is the Sydney Funnel-web Spider?

The male of the species is the most dangerous of the Australian spiders. (This is unusual. Normally the female spiders are more dangerous).

Australian spiders will often bite without injecting venom. But if you get bitten by a large black spider in the Sydney area you should take the bite seriously.

The symptoms of the venom include pain, mouth numbness, vomiting, abdominal pain, sweating and salivation. Whether you have symptoms or not, apply a pressure immobilisation bandage as explained on the page about Australian snakes, and seek medical help.

But there is no need to panic. Nobody has died from a Sydney Funnel-web Spider bite since an antivenom was introduced in 1980.

Before the introduction of the antivenom the rate of human deaths following a Funnel-web spider bite was less than one every three years, and these fatalities took typically 2 to 3 days. There is plenty of time to administer the antivenom.

(90% of the people bitten never develop symptoms that would warrant the use of antivenom anyway...)

It is interesting to know that the venom of the Sydney Funnel-web Spider is particularly effective in humans. It doesn't affect other mammals, for example cats or dogs, anywhere near as much...

On a positive note: all of the Australian Outback is a lot more than 160km from Sydney...
