In Thailand you have to stand in honor of the King whilst his song plays before every movie. Happy Birthday Bhumibol Adulyadej!!!

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

I collect colored aluminum from the 50's. Some of my favorite pieces are my miniature bean bag ashtrays that are MIB (mint in box). I also have tumblers, pitchers, coasters, ice buckets, plates, salt and pepper shakers, butter dishes, a silent butler, a bread box, and even some straws.

My daughter received  money from all my family to buy a Wii,  she was so bumbed because nobody has them in stock anywhere until late this month or even into february.  So we checked online and found one and ordered it monday of this week, she has no idea we ordered it, WOOOO HOOO it came in today. We can't wait to suprise her with it.  She is going to be in heaven when she sees it. I'm pretty pumped also, its a new way for me to get a workout.   They have come a long  way in video games since I first played PONG.  I,  like probably most of you have grown up during the evolution of video games.  I was also very happy when we could afford a remote control for our t.v. growing up, I was out of a job ( thank god, no more turning the dial ).

What's a "dial"?  just joking.  I made the mistake of mentioning VCRs to my students today and half the class had no idea what I was talking about.  I told them it was like a old fashion DVD player. :D

We bought our college age son a Wii for Christmas and he, his girlfriend, his nephews, and all of his friends, have just about already got their money's worth as they have had such a good time!

So I just moved my office directly across the street from the fire department in my fair little city.  The window above my desk looks out at the door where the trucks come out.  I've become hypnotized.  I'm like a little boy and I watch the trucks come and go all day.  I've come to the following conclusions:  Firefighters do very little most of the time.  At 8:30 every morning the pull all of trucks out of the house and rub them with towels and then they put them away.  They must have a rule that they must take each truck for a spin every day as they casually leave with each truck at least once a day and return ten minutes later.  When other fire department trucks drive by they have some sort of special growling siren that they ring; I guess to wake the sleeping firefighters?
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

MMJ are number three on Yahoo's "Today's Top Searches"!!!

Also, seeing the member GBV reminded me of the most incredible band t-shirt I've ever seen:
Front - What shitty band are you in?
Back - Guided By Voices

I can't wait till my Alien Lanes album arrives.

"Tina Turner is coming out of retirement to make her first proper public live performance in eight years at the Grammy Awards. The 68-year-old superstar will duet with Beyonce Knowles at the music awards show next month. Turner announced her retirement in 2000, but took the stage for a private charity gig at London's National History Museum last May. Now she'll make a spectacular comeback by performing a currently-unknown song with Knowles at the Los Angeles awards ceremony. Knowles, 26, is a long-term fan of Turner's and performed her song "Proud Mary" at a Kennedy Center tribute to the veteran musician in 2005"

Although she did perform it, I'm pretty darn sure Proud Mary isn't her song...why lie to the kids?  :(

not 100% sure but i did think that was her tune, and that CCR covered it.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

.Walt

i'm not 100% sure, but i think both ccr and tina turner covered the song.  this should be in the music quiz thread huh?
Much Greater Than Science Fiction

No it's definitely a CCR original. Written by John Fogerty, covered by many:
