1 more period ottawa, all you have to do is win this one period and i will be happy.

ManNamedTruth

congrats to the ducks. quack#!@^@@!
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

joey_rogo

Indeed, congrats to the ducks. Would've rather seen Ottawa win it, but o well.

The DARK

The Ducks deserved it. Kudos to them.
In another time, in another place, in another face

i'm one of "those guys" that hates seeing a non-traditional team win it.

also congrats to the NHL for getting the lowest rating ever for NBC in prime-time.  the lowest before it, a re-run of the west wing. the NHL needs to change their approach, big time, and fast.

Yeah, it's a shame the ratings are so low. Game 4 was America's chance to see Don Cherry, but no one was watching. Someone finally put Brett Hull in his place.

Silly Americans and their lack of not watching hockey.

don't blame us, blame the NHL. blame the fact that the season is over in june. hockey should end the first week in march or mid march. i think hockey improved since the rule changes. to bad nobody cares.

the national spelling bee got 5 times a higher rating than game 4.  :-[ ::)

For that to happen, the season would have to start in July. I think having the Cup run end in May is suitable, the earlier in May the better. The NHL knows that June isn't a good thing for ratings and general interest. For the past five years the league has been starting a little earlier at the start of the season. Most hockey pundits and players want a shorter pre-season. I believe some teams play over eight games. That's pretty stupid, but it's all about the money, and Canadian teams have capacity crowds for exhibition pre-season games.

Good on Anaheim: 22 Canadians, one Finn and one Swede and a few Yanks.

you're right, its all about the money. but they are not making enough, or they could make more. their freaking marketing is terrible. where are the superstars? they need to market the stars in the league, end the season earlier, and get teams outta the south and back into northern states. i would watch a hartford game, but i won't watch a atlanta game. i think a team in North/South Dakato, would work. their college hockey team is huge there.

That's the thing: Someone with money and marketing from the Dakotas has to step up and prove that their is a viable market for pro sports there. Also, the idea of a Bismark playoff match-up against Atlanta wouldn't be an ideal situation for ratings on both sides of the border, although Canada would cover every game on national TV.

Jerry Bruckheimer (yes that Jerry Bruckheimer) wants an expansion team in Las Vegas. The NHL is listening. The Nashville Predators will move out of the south in a year's time to Hamilton or the Kitchener/Waterloo Ontario region. Kansas City wants an expansion team too and will probably get one given that they have the money and have a history with the AHL/IHL.

.Walt

yeah thats right, i heard they wanted to put a team in Vegas. that wouldn't so dumb. get the team outta Nashville as soon as possible. how many more teams do you think Canada could support? because its unfair how a place like Florida (even though they've won) gets two teams.

you best believe that if a Florida team is playing a Canadian team, i pulling for the Canadian team. especially if that team is the Leafs

As of today, one of the sports shows in Toronto was talking about Canadian teams and why aren't other cities stepping up with money for either an expansion team or a relocation deal. The NHL does not like the idea of relocation. However, Winnipeg and Quebec City can conceivably support an NHL team given how the league is currently structured. However, no one in either of these cities has taken up the charge. Winnipeg's arena needs an upgrade and Quebec City needs a new arena period. Hamilton's arena is too old, so the Predators can't really move there. BTW, Hamilton is only a 50 minute drive from Toronto and yes, Hamiltonians hate everything Toronto. That city is the Pittsburgh of Canada, but far far uglier. Mark my words: NAshville will be relocated to the Kitchener/Waterloo region, around 70 minutes west of Toronto. It's an area that draws fans for the Buffalo Sabres and Leafs, so these teams aren't supportive of a rival moving there. However, both cities are tiny in comparison to what an average size US city is.

could a city like Toronto have two teams? like a new york or Chicago in baseball? or is there to much history and fans of the leafs to support another team?

Easily, but it won't happen since the Leafs have a deal where no team can locate within 50 miles of the Toronto radius.

There's nothing cool about what the Leaf organization does. They are only in it for the money and have very little integrity. Montreal is one of the classiest organizations in all of sport. The Leafs only care about the bottom line.

there's just something about montreal, that i just don't like. i really don't have a reason, but i just do. the leafs, need to get there money set on getting to the playoffs. i need a leafs jersey badly. i had  capitals and senators jersey. for some reason i never get a jersey of teams of any sport i really like.
