QuoteWait til they get Brodeur back.

Langenbrunner and Zajac are absolutely on fire, as is Parise obviously

Glad the Pens suck this year because Boston, Washington, or NJ would be tough to beat

Montreal is really banged-up, but if they were healthy - and if Kovalev started caring - they'd be in the mix too. The talk about Vinny coming to Montreal won't go away either. Don't forget about the Briere-less Flyers. They are built for the playoffs.

I think Philly is just about as good as those 3 I mentioned, but definitely not Montreal. Their PP has really suffered with no Streit or Souray (although Markov is doing well), and guys like Plekanec and Koivu just arent having very good years.

You are right about Pleks, but Koivu has been injured and/or playing hurt all season. Higgins has been hurt a lot and so has Komisarek and Dandenault. Goalie Carey Price missed lots of games and Tanguay is still out. That being said, I hate the Habs with an unholy passion.

My favourite team is Boston - Calgary is a close second - but I have a hard time not cheering for Philly. They are loaded with good Canucks, likeable ones like Carter, Coburn, Carle, Knuble, Richards, Hartnell, Upshall, Gagne, Lupul... and I'm a big fan of Briere.

Mike Richards and Scotty Hartnell are likeable???

;D ;D ;D

I wish there was a whole league of them. I can't believe Richards is turning 24 in a few days.

Looks like this is gonna happen, after last night's debacle I'll take anything!

Well after all the speculation, it is official: Sean Avery is a member of ....the Hartford Wolf Pack, not a member of the NY Rangers — yet.

TSN reports Avery has been assigned to the Wolf Pack by the Dallas Stars a day after clearing waivers.  Avery is expected to skate with the Wolf Pack today.

Here is a quote from the article:

"I would like to thank Glen Sather and the Rangers organization for giving me the chance to resume my hockey career  by affording me this opportunity with the Hartford Wolf Pack," Avery said in a prepared statement Tuesday. "I am looking forward to getting back on the ice, working my way back to the NHL and playing the game I love.   While I appreciate the many interview requests, at this point in time, I would like to focus on hockey and will not be making any further statements while with the Wolf Pack."

Stars owner Tom Hicks said in an interview this morning that while he is happy Avery has made strides in his life, Avery will not be a member of the Dallas Stars.

Showdown vs. the Sharks about to go down. A win tonight would be huge and give them 3 of their last 4, with the next 2 games vs. NYI and TOR, both certainly winnable games.

Great game to watch, and big 2-1 win in a shootout for the Pens over San Jose

Theyre definitely starting to hit their stride and should get Gonchar back on Saturday.  If they take care of business like they should the next couple games, I like their chances

Too bad I didnt start Fleury in fantasy hockey  >:(

The only Fleury I care about is Theorn Fleury. Too bad he's still losing his battle with he bottle. He's still a marginal Hall of Famer, but boy, his career was shortened to say the least.

He's an emotional lad:

Why do you think his career was shortened? He played til he was 34 and averaged just over a point/game for his career. Thats pretty much the player I saw whenever I saw him play

And FWIW, Marc Andre is Canadian too  ;)

Fleury has had a troubled life. His NHL career would have been even better than it was. His later NHL years were difficult one's for him because of alcoholism and psycholgical problems. There's also rumours of physical abuse from a coach from his WHL days when he played with Sheldon Kennedy (look up what happened to Kennedy).

Believe me I remember very well when he was with the Rangers. He was a great player, he would have great spurts then something would always happen. I remember a couple of times when he completely lost it during games.

Fleury ended up playing for the Belfast Giants in the British Elite Ice Hockey League - from 2005-06. Yes, that's what a man struggling with alcoholism needs: Playing pro hockey in Belfast!

I read that he made a comeback playing Senior A hockey and played for the Allan Cup. This isn't a bush-league cup. Its the Senior A trophy for all of Canada. I'd say the level of play is a notch lower than the ECHL. Many ex-pros play in the Senior A leagues.

Still, I feel bad for Fleury and hope he finally gets his life in order.

Sergei Gonchar finally returns to the Pens.

Pens looked great early by going up 2-0, Toronto is storming back...2-1 now.

Lets Go Pens !!! :D

In a season of ugly periods for the Rangers that may have been the worst! At least they didn't have Redden starting on the power play, not that it helped. This is embarrassing especially for the NBC game!

Jaimoe

The Rangers look even worse in HD.

As an aside, this stinker of a game doesn't help sell the NHL to potential US fans.

Why did I start Lundqvist in fantasy again??!

This season is slipping away fast and they really can't so anything about it. If they bring back Avery that will probably be it because as I've said before the cap is so screwed up! I'm now convinced the Rangers will NEVER win as long as Slats is GM.  Another annoying thing about him is that he is the only NYC area sports GM who will never be interviewed on radio or tv locally! He never has to answer questions about his horrible team! What a joke!

At least pitchers and catchers started this weekend, Let's Go Mets!

capt. scotty

If you like high scoring games, Devils are beating the Sharks 3-2 after 1 in an exciting game.

Put a little bread on NJ, so heres to them winning  [smiley=beer.gif]
