...and who votes on the Hart Trophy and such exactly??? This has been a big question the last few days that I havent found out exactly.

NHL's Professional Writer's Association does all the voting for the year-end trophies. Of course, there's tons of hacks in bad hockey markets that vote, so Ovechkin isn't a shoe-in. I think I'd puke if Malkin won.

I dont get it.

When I first saw this post and had not yet watched the entire game, I thought you hinted at Malkin getting hurt.

That didnt happen and he had a goal and an assist, so Im not sure where the irony is with Malkin = God, because right now he's leading the NHL in points by a healthy margin.

Entertaining game between Philly and Pittsburgh today, that was nationally televised.

Pens PP just looked terrible and was a big reason they lost, they were basically 0/4 although the only goal they got was with 10 seconds left on a PP. Biggest difference in the game was Biron though. Great save on a quick shot from Crosby on an almost totally open net, and stopped a few other great scoring chances.

Despite losing, I thought the Pens played pretty good. They took way too many penalties though and didnt look good on the PP. I thought the defense was strong though and we held Philly's explosive offense to only 18 shots despite giving them 7 PP chances - and they got both their goals on the PP.

He's a good offensive player, but I've seen him do lots of selfish things over the last two years. He's also pretty chippy and won't stand up for himself. He's just not my kind of player. I don't like golden boys. But I don't hate him like I hate Martin Havlat. Nice avatar though.

I probably agree with the chippy part, but in those instances he definitely stands up for himself. Ive never seen him back down from anyone. He's a superstar, its not like he's gonna drop the gloves.

He's a star, but hasn't won any superstar hardware, yet (he might this year though). Iginla is a superstar and his gloves come off quite easily. Same with Lecavalier. And I've even seen Ovechkin drop the gloves, although he didn't fare too well against budding superstar Mike Richards. The main reason why Peter Forsberg was one of my least favourite all-time players was his cowardice when things got heated in response to something dirty he did. The guy that fought almost all of his battles, Adam Deadmarsh (a great player), had his career cut short due to concussions caused by the many fights he got into defending the much larger and stronger Forsberg, a gutless coward of cowards.

Jaimoe - I want your assessment of the Pens and their 2-0 win over your Calgary boys.

Did Malkin impress?? how bout his takeaway ability? he leads the league in takeaways, something Ovie probably couldn't even spell. how bout that play where he slipped the check and carried the puck the length of the ice and almost scored?

Lookin good  8-)

I didn't see the game. Games in Canada are regionalized on the cable sports channels.

damn, that sucks. kind of ironic because it was actually on the NHL Network here, so it was nationally televised.

I'm sure you'll see highlights though and the Pens really took it to them. I thought going in it would be a tough and tight game and end up like 4-3 in 1 team's favor, but I was way off base there. Ive seen a good bit of Calgary and thats why I thought this, and this game was very physical and playoff-esque, but Pens really dominated them more than I thought. Iginla was basically shut down and I rarely even heard his name called, while Cammalleri and Jokinen each had a chance here and there, but quieted more than I expected. Our PK has been excellent lately, but we held the Flames to 0/5 or 6. Fleury had a great game, almost took Kipper's role of 09 with plenty of highlight reel saves.

Wish you saw it though mostly because Malkin played physical and really stood out in the game. At this point, I think he deserves the Hart more than Ovie.

Im in fantasy hockey playoffs and I sat Fleury in the 2 leagues I own him in because I thought this was gonna be a shooters game and had nice stats already thanks to Rinne and Lundqvist....Damnit :D

I can get all the games on various cable packages, but I refuse to pay for the NHL Network and other TV packages. I already have a cable bill that tops off at $100/per month and I get over 800 channels. Anyway, TSN and Sportsnet show tons of games per week.

I have DirecTV but since Im in the Pittsburgh area, I dont need to get NHL Center Ice to get all the Pens games. Otherwise, I'd probably just get it.

In the instances I want to watch a game I can't find on TV, I usually go to http://atdhe.net/ or http://sports12.weebly.com/.

ATDHE was money the whole season until a few weeks ago. I guess someone found out about it and is cracking down on the free feeds on the internet. If a game isnt on ATDHE though, that 2nd site has been good in the meantime.

I get all the Leaf games in HD - on Sportsnet Ontario, TSN, HNIC and Leaf TV. TSN and Sportsnet show at least 4 other games in Ontario per week. I could get the NHL Network and the NHL pay-per-view package called "Centre Ice" - which carries every game - but I like to watch other sports too. Go Jays, Raptors, Argos and Orangemen! Yes, it's been a rough couple of years for sports teams in Toronto. Good thing I'm a born and raised Bruins fan, or I'd lose whatever sanity I have left.

I never heard of this guy, but I came across his pic while looking for an avatar and thought I'd post it.

Pens have the best sweaters BTW. Anyone care to debate?
