That one's good. However, it wasnt in the playoffs, it was against Bryzgalov and not Lundqvist, and I think that 1 had more luck involved whereas the 1 tonight had a lot of skill involved (and not just getting to the net, but getting that backhand up and shooting it where he did

Talk about imploding at the end of the period

That whole line sucked on the play, not just Talbot (although he was the worst offender).

Hey US hockey fans,

Are any of you following the other tournament right now: IIHF World Hockey Championships? The US has a pretty good team. Canada hammered Hungary 8-0 yesterday and the US had their hands full with Latvia on Saturday. The Canadian team is pretty solid up front: Heatley, Spezza, St. Louis, Stamkos, Roy, Horcoff, Doan, Fischer and Colby Armstrong. Shea Weber anchors the D.

Basically, the North American players are from teams that didn't make the playoffs or were beaten out in the first round. Intenational lower ranked teams often have almost complete national teams. The early rounds are mismatches, but they get more interesting the farther the tournament goes on.

Here's TSN's link: http://www.tsn.ca/canadian_hockey/

Cant say Im watching it.

And how did Colby Armstrong make that team?!  ;D I loved Army when he played for the Pens, but dude is not a player who should even be on Zimbabwe's World Championship team

All those other guys are good though (except I cant say I know who Fischer is so Im not sure about him).

Mike Fisher is one of the better defensive forwards in the league. He plays for Ottawa.

Colby is playing on the fourth line, and he's good in that role.

The Canuck D is really young, but really talented: standout rookies Luke Schenn and Drew Doughty, plus Nashville's Shea Weber (who should have been nominated for the Norris) and Dan Hamhuis.

The US beat Austria today. You guys have a pretty decent team, even though there's some Leafs on it and the team is coached by Ron Wilson. Here's the story: http://www.ctvolympics.ca/hockey/news/newsid=9918.html?cid=rsstsn

BTW, Jagr is playing for the Czechs.

Oh, I know who Mike Fisher is, you just spelled his name with a "c" and I couldnt think of anyone besides Mike Fisher. He's decent

Weber probably would've won the Norris if it was just based on the first half of the season, but he really cooled off offensively in the 2nd half. He was on my fantasy team, so Im sure of that.

Yes, but he's really one of the most rounded defensemen in the league. He's like a more responsible Dion Phaneuf. Let me tell you, when Phaneuf and Weber were paired together on the 2005 world junior team, opposing teams were quaking in their skates (the other defensemen on that team were Shawn Belle, Brent Seabrook, Cam Barker and Braydon Coburn). That team was arguably Canada's best junior team ever (I believe the link only has one pool. The US had a good team that year too): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_World_Junior_Ice_Hockey_Championships_rosters

capt. scotty

Wow, if thats not the best junior team ever, I'd hate to see what is.

That D is stacked (never heard of Belle though), but the forwards are just as impressive: Crosby, Carter, Richards, Getzlaf, Perry, Bergeron, Ladd.

Dont see the US team listed there though

Belle is playing for the Hamilton Bulldogs, the Habs AHL affiliate. If you know the Habs, you'll know that they keep players in the minors longer than most, sometimes 5 or more years.

The 2005 roster was pretty good. Here's all the particulars for that year: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_World_Junior_Ice_Hockey_Championships
