Thank You Markus Naslund! The best thing he did for the Rangers this year was to retire and give them some cap room!

Ha ha, I was stuck watching him disappear most games this year!

the thing i'll remember most about marcus is that his interviews were decent and they didn't piss me off nearly as much as drury's did. i also liked his hair.

after the rangers demise, i have officially jumped aboard the caps bandwagon, sorry capt. i wasn't able to watch game 1 or most of game 2. the bar i was in last night turned off hockey in favor of a basketball game. the espn.com highlight clip for the game made me laugh when they showed a side by side image of all the hats from when ovie tricked it and from when sid got his. under the images it said 'ovechkin's hats and crosby's hat.' it's lookin like a good series though, can't wait for game 3.

also, i wasn't around after game 5 or 6 or whichever it was in the nyr/wsh series, but i have to throw in some hate for donald brashear. yes i know he's only out there to hit people, but to go after blair betts was totally uncool. betts is the man and he plays super clean. brash should be out for the season, not just the 6 or so games he got.

QuotePierre is interviewing for the GM job in Minnesota, and he looks to be a contender, so you may get your wish of not hearing from him after this playoffs.

But K, you can't attack the NBC telecast without attacking TSN's too. Both share most of the same talent.

on nhl live the other day they chatted with one of the beat writers for the wild and he said that pierre is a frontrunner for the job. should be interesting to see how he does if he gets it. he's up against some big names like pat quinn.

Ovie's a bitch but I guess he can party. Their lapdances sure are expensive at this place  :o. You'd think with his $10 million salary he could afford some jeans without holes in them though  ;D

Don Cherry chided Ovechkin tonight on Coach's Corner for his flopping dive in the last game, the one where he faked getting elbowed in the face at centre ice. He knows Ovechkin watches Coach's Corner, so Don warned, "If you do stuff like this, I'll find out about it."

Don does like Ovechkin ever since their mini-battle after Ovechkin's ill-advised 50th goal celebration.

That was a clear dive.

I think he dove again just a few minutes later if I remember correctly

And everyone calls Sid a diver  ;D

Ruckus

Alright hockey heads.  I thought I'd dive into this thread.  I am an Islanders fan, have been since '88.  I'm not sure I need to say more.

Therefore, I have jumped on the Caps wagon for the last two playoffs and it's crazy to see DC and even B'more peeps all in their Ovie jerseys.  Hilarious really.  I was in a wedding in DC this past weekend and I couldn't believe how many Caps jerseys were walking the streets.  To think at the beginning of the season, I got upper tank seats for like $34.

I hope your Pens make it a series 'cuz this is getting out of hand ;)

Two things Ruckus:

What do you think about the latest report that your lunatic owner wishes he never bought the Isles in the first place?

And secondly, in the upcoming NHL entry draft, would you rather pick OHL phenom John Tavares, unproven Swede defenseman Victor Hedman or the fastest-rising prospect (and OHL superstar) Matt Duchene? It's a three horse race at this point, but the Isles always seem to throw plenty of curveballs come draft day.

Yes, DC is in full bandwagon mode.

That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

capt. scotty

You Know It, SON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont know what Fleury was thinking on what ensued to be the Caps first goal, but that was ridiculous

Malkin finally showed up. Thanks Geno.

I was worried coming in, Im confident for Game 4

that was a fun game. the winning goal was kinda disappointing given how awesome OT had been leading up to it. the generic 'right off the face off blue line shot' left me with a small case of blue balls, but i'll live. the bos/car game was also a good one. i was rooting for boston, but it was still fun.

Don't lose sleep over me Jaimoe ;)

To be honest, I'm not a hockey head so I don't know enough about the draft prospects to speak to that.

Charles Wang on the other hand is very interesting.  His statements only reflect the financial reality of Islanders.  $300 million in losses in 8 or 9 years is a lot.  I'm thinking he's using it as leverage to get county approval on his pet project.  All I know is that the Islanders staying is contingent upon the Nassau County approval of his giant development proposal ($3.7 billion).  My understanding is that he thought he would have this monstrosity of a project up and building by now.  Ughhh, not as if Nassau County needs more of that.

But I don't want them to move and I want them to have a state of the art stadium for once.  The Coliseum is a shithole though back in the day, that atmosphere was imcomparable.

Who do think the Isles should take?  Which of the 3 is best in your mind?

If the Isles need offense, then it would be hard to pass on Tavares. He's a less flashy less tough play-making version of last year's #1 pick Steven Stamkos. Tavares' stock has dropped in some eyes because he under-performed in the current OHL playoffs. Hedman is a big smooth skating defenseman, compared to a softer version Chris Pronger. One thing is you can't teach tough, so the jury is out on him.  But he has good offensive potential. I think the safe pick is Duchene. He's a little undersized, but he's been ripping it up in the OHL playoffs, even though his team is on the verge of elimination in the finals.

capt. scotty

When you have the #1 pick, you pretty much need everything  ;D

The only good forward that I can think of besides the old Doug Weight is Kyle Okposo. Sean Bergenheim has seemed decent when Ive seen him play.

I couldnt name 1 defenseman on their team besides Streit, but he's an all star caliber D-man.

I would suspect they'd go with Tavares or Duchene.

There could be some wheeling and dealing with Tampa Bay and the Isles. TB doesn't need another centre, but they need defense. So, maybe a deal is in the works. However, this draft is 15 players deep, quality-wise, especially the Top 10. It should be interesting.
