I've never seen a player that can dodge hits like Geno.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

After that hit, maybe Ovie's own teammates will ask him to quit running at players.

As for the CF series, I think the east is up for grabs and I'd be surprised if the Hawks beat the Wings. I like the Hawks, but the Wings with their experience are the worst thing possible for Chicago. Hawks have the talent to win, but do they have the grit to go down a couple games and still feel like they have the chance??

I think their goaltending does, but that might be it.

...I wanted the Canes more than the Bruins mostly bc the Bruins are deep at forward and I didnt want to see that, but also for home ice.

Cam Ward is the series. If he plays great, or better than Fleury, I think Carolina wins. Were more talented than them at all levels except possibly goalie, so that makes it interesting. Fleury can have hiccups, but Ward has been very strong the last few months.

Pens in 6.

Cant wait for these series, I just cant believe the schedule is so drawn out  :o

Ovie > Crosby

Hah, youre funny  ;D

Either your blinders/disdain for Sid is so great that you dont even realize he's a better player, or youre just fishing.

Goalscoring: Ovie >> Sid
Checking: Ovie >>> Sid
Speed: Ovie > Sid (maybe)

Everything else: Sid >>> Ovie

Playoff Beard: everyone else>Sidney Crosby

cant say im surprised by tonights score, but I think the WCF will be a 5 game series

...in better news,

Good game tonight...Wings have to be the most lethal team when given an odd man rush. Give em a 3-on-1 like in OT tonight, and fugghetaboudit. Dan Cleary is having quite the playoffs so far. Has to be their MVP to this point.

I think both series will be tight scorewise, but both will only go 5 or 6 games max. Chicago doesnt have the experience to beat Detroit, and Carolina doesnt have the firepower to beat Pittsburgh.

Chicago will live or die with their goaltending, Carolina will live or die with Eric Staal

That's true about Chicago, but if it weren't for the careless way the defense gave away the puck, the Hawks would have won the last game. Staal is a horse. Love the guy, but the Canes need to get other lines going. Staal is the East version of Getzaf, and the Canes seem to be carbon-copies of the Ducks, which isn't necessarily a good thing

Well with Ruutu and Cole out for at least tonight, it pretty much depends on Staal. Im pretty sure the only game the Canes have won without him scoring a goal was game 7. Every other game he didnt score, and they lost. Whitney is really the only other guy who can score, and he hasnt done anything since the first round. I guess Cullen is a decent option as well. If they go down 0-2 to us, the series isnt over, but they arent going to win 4 of 5 against us.

Ducks are much better than the Canes. Canes dont have a top 2nd goalscoring option like Corey Perry, they probably dont even have anyone as good as Bobby Ryan. And at least PP wise, they dont have anyone as good as Selanne. They also get more production from their defense, although Pitkanen has been solid.

Canes cant go head to head with us, and they know it. They are overmatched often on the offensive side, but they play a tight fundamental style and try to grind games out by not giving up many scoring chances and relying on Ward. If they try to skate with the Pens (or Boston, or NJ, or a few other teams), theyll get burned.

Cole is probable for tonight.

I heard he was doubtful yesterday.

Should be a good game either way

where's Mickey when I need some broom pictures?!

WOOHOO!!

Malkin is a beast. Jesus, that 3rd goal was so sick it caused a plague outbreak in a 3rd world country. Win the faceoff, gets the puck off the boards, and proceeds to score maybe the best goal of the playoffs. Unbelievable. Thanks for riling him up Larose  :)

Great shot. Not only does he have do get it top shelf and just inside the post, he has to get it past the defenseman without it being deflected or blocked.

Update: I heard during an interview today of the longtime hockey writer for USA today (I think his name was Chris Allen?), and he said that it was 1 of the most amazing goals he's ever seen. He also said he thinks this Pens team is better than last years (despite no Hossa or Malone) and a much tougher, resilent team.

Really sad news from yesterday: former popular Flyers and Leafs (along with a few other teams) centreman, Peter Zezel, died yesterday at age 44 of a rare blood disease. When Zezel played for Philly in the '80s, he was voted Philadelphia's most popular athlete on a couple of occasions. He is beloved in Toronto because of his years with the Leafs and his popular hockey camp. He also was a great soccer player.

Here's a great article from today's Philly.com:

I think I am officially aloud to take this avatar down today or tomorrow. I have decided to keep it up for my homeboy Capt. Headdy since its bought nothing but luck to the Pens since I've had it. Believe me, I do NOT like the Penguins. I am keeping this up because I like Capt.headdy. He is a good dude, and good people deserve to have an awesome celebration. I had one last year with the Phillies. He had one last year with the Steelers. In the end, I hope he has another with the Penguins and I have one next year with The Birds! Go Pens!(not because I like the penguins) ;)

it aint luck, but good deal  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

and the Steelers championship was this year. The Burgh will own half of major sports if the Pens win  ;)
