Awesome game, much more open and playing into the hands of Vancouver than I expected, but Boston played really good and thats not really their style. I almost think Thomas overplayed the puck on that late goal so much because of how little time was left more than anything. Could be a tighter series than I expected.

I thought the game was exciting, but sloppy by both teams. I'm also curious about some of Julien's power-play decisions such as putting Chara in front of the net and keeping an over-the-hill Recchi on the ice instead of impressive rookie Dan Seguin. Chara is no Holmstrom in front of the net (he tries to tip the shot instead of screening the goalie).

The B's and Timmy T straight up owned the Nucks tonight. I dont know why Luongo wasnt pulled after the 2nd int (or at least 5th goal). The game wasnt going to begood for his psyche anyway, and then Im pretty sure BOS scored on there last 3 shots to take it from 5-1 to 8-1.

The Recching Ball is turning back the clock like its '92!!  :D

Fuck Van and all their Ontario/Toronto hating fans/citizens. Fuck casual hockey fans in Canada that cheer for the 'Nucks only because they are based in Canada. Go Bruins... something I've said since 1974.

Love the truth being told Jaimoe! What a great series. Gotta give it up for Vancouver. I think they booed Bettman the loudest at any trophy presentation in history. But I was cheering for Boston. I also gotta give it up for Marchand for putting in the empty net goal. I won my playoff fantasy hockey by one point because of it!

I was too young to remember the Boston Bruins winning the Stanley Cup in '72 (with Bobby Orr's soaring/famous winning goal), but the stinging playoff losses to the Habs in the '70s etc... will always stay fresh in my mind. But tonight feels great. It's not the same as when the Jays won their first World Series, but it's damn close. I could almost die a happy man, but not until the Kingston Frontenacs finally win the CHL's Memorial Cup (the hardest championship to win in all of sport, beating NCAA basketball by a hair). Anyone remember when a 19-year-old Milan Lucic's Vancouver team won the Memorial Cup 4 years ago and he was named the tournament MVP, then he was called up by the Bruins to play agains the Habs in their playoff series... and he dominated? I can't believe this kid is only 23, and power-forwards don't start to come into their own until around 25-27. Fuck you Vancouver and long live the Bruins... but not the Red Sox.

Are you from Toronto and root for the B's?  I don't understand.

Fantastic series. I guess it could have been closer game by game, but the blowouts in beantown added to the entertainment/talk. Considering that and Boston barely losing in the first 3 away games, plus Thomas, plus the Sedin's and Kesler doing nothing offensively, I think Boston definitely deserved to win it this year.

No chance in hell I thought they could win it 2 months ago though, which is why the NHL playoffs are the best around.

Casual and playoff-only hockey fans in Toronto seemed to cheer for the Canucks, but many Leaf fans are just Leaf fans and could care less about the Canucks. Plus, most of the Bruins are Canadian, so it doesn't matter and they are an Original Six team with an old fanbase across the country. Heck, a 9-year-old girl asked if she could give me a high-five as we passed each other on the street yesterday: we were both wearing Bruins shirts.

I moved to Toronto 20 years ago for school. I was born and raised in Kingston, Ontario, which is located at the mouth of the St. Lawrence River, half-way between Montreal and Toronto. Growing up, the city got both Habs and Leaf games, but back then ('70s and '80s) the Leafs sucked and Boston played tons on the CBC Montreal/Ottawa affiliate. I hate the Habs and never liked the Leafs growing up. Boston was a good fit and many of a certain demographic love the Bruins since there wasn't really any regional alliances other than with the Habs and Kingston is an old hockey town (the first official hockey game was played there) with Original Six roots. However, since the '90s, Kingston is divided with a few Bruins stragglers, lots of Habs fans, but is mostly dominated by the fucking Ottawa Senators. BTW, Kingston is a big supporter of the Syracuse Orangemen ('Cuse is less than 2 hours away and we are in their TV and radio broadcast region).

More than anything, I was born a Bruins fan because I'm family friends with the Cherrys, Don (perhaps the most famous Canadian) and his brother Richard - the latter was my late father's best friend and both he and my dad played on the same OHL team in the '50s, the Barrie Flyers (the Bruins Jr. A affiliate). All my early memories are of the Bruins - I worshipped Stan Jonathan, Terry O'Reilly and Rick Middleton (I played more like a poorman's O'Reilly, but with good passing skills). Also, Kingston is well represented on the Bruins of the past: former GM Harry Sinden, captain Wayne Cashman, Rick Smith, Ken Linesman, Don Cherry.

When Don coached the Bruins, he gave me a Bobby Orr game-played Koho hockey stick (I still have it) and invited me into the Bruins dressing room when they played the Leafs in the late '70s (I was too young to go), but I got a signed Boston program. He gave me lots of memorabilia over the years. God love those Bruins!

They'll bring hockey back to the top again. But they'll need to win a few more first. I'd say the Celts are #4.

Well that is a good reason.  I was very curious to hear what you would say.  I figured you must have moved to Toronto.  You may be the only person I am happy for considering the spoiled effin Boston fan base doesn't deserve another championship for another 50 years.  My dad was a red sox fan and passed just before the curse was ended.  I always rooted for 'em until the "Red Sox Nation" started after their titles. Now I hate'em.

I like the Leafs though. I started becoming a fan in the '90s when Wendel Clark and Doug Gilmour were the stars. Clark was my favourite player back then (still is one of my all-time favs). I love the Jays (Dave Stieb and Doc Halladay are my all-time favs along with Pat Hentgen), Raptors (I'm a glutton for punishment) and like the CFL's Toronoto Argos (but I was more of a Ottawa Rough Riders fan growing up); I pull for the NY Giants. Back in the '70s, I was a HUGE Red Sox fan. I love Yaz, Fred Lynn and Jim Rice. Heck, I even like Bob Stanley. I loved the Expos too. However, I've hated the Red Sox since the mid '80s onwards.

Id love him to come back, but itd be just as shocked if he actually did. Id almost bank on Detroit slightly outbidding us (on a reasonable offer). Cant believe its been 3 yrs since he played in the NHL
