Good luck to your Indians! At least you dont have to face Price tonight but it looks like this Cobb guy had a solid year.

Of course Im glad we ended the 20 season streak of losing seasons, but at this point  and with how good this team has looked, I can't say I'll wont be extremely disappointed. After a 162 game season, I think a 1 game playoff for the WC teams is asinine, at least make it 3 game series.

LETS GO BUCS!!!!  :bath: :cheesy:

The Tribe's stretch of futility hasn't quite reached the level of the Buccos, but I too am VERY nervous about tomorrow night.  I agree with you that I don't like the whole one and done scenario of the wild card game.  Especially when you think about the fact that if this were two years ago, we'd already be in the ALDS and the Pirates would be in the NLDS?! As fun of a ride as the Tribe has been on this last month of the season, it most definitely will feel somewhat deflating if they lose tomorrow night...

I'm actually rooting for your Pirates tonight Cappy!

Congrats to your Buccos Cappy!

PNC Park was a freaking madhouse last night and it was fun to watch how much those fans got into that game.  That crowd definitely had an impact on the game.  I think they especially rattled Cueto.  The Rangers fans from the AL play in game were a joke in comparison to what we saw last night!

I hope a lot of Cleveland fans were tuned in to that game last night and bring that sort of electric atmosphere to the Jake tonight!

As a loyal representative of the Rays, it is my duty to inform the forum that one Kevin Kiermaier is on the roster for tonight's game in Cleveland. "Kevin who?" you ask. You know Kevin, he played a handful of games above AA this year during the Durham Bull's championship run. Drafted in the 31st round a few years ago. Stood in the outfield for the final 3 outs of game 163 against Texas for his only major league action ever.

How is he on the roster? The Rays do things like that - they're smarter than you. And knowing JoeMa, not only will he be on the roster, but he will make a key play during a key moment tonight.

(He's the best defensive outfielder in the entire Rays system, by the way).
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

Thanks ILB! Rooting for your Indians tonight.

PNC Park was insane last night. When the Pens were making their comeback around 5 years ago, I said/thought them winning a Cup would mean more to me than a Steelers Super Bowl despite football being my favorite sport, because as a fan you just devote so much more time into that 82 game season. I feel the same way about the Bucs right now, but honestly I dont even need a World Series win to get the same enjoyment in this instance.

I think last night's game was the most enjoyable sporting event I've ever had the pleasure of watching. I didnt think simply watching a game caused your body to release adrenaline, but it sure felt like it to me last night. It was a game just to get into the playoffs proper, but had me more anxious than a Steelers Super Bowl or Pens Stanley Cup Finals game ever has.

It was absolutely surreal.

This is the time of year that everyone starts moving to the college football thread while me, Sweatboard, Bbill and Ms Y. talk playoff baseball!   I guess it may be just me and Brian this year.....

I'm not Dodgers fan, but I just am so sick of the Cards...

Go Dodgers!

ms. yvon

well i was hoping for a Pirates vs A's series.  now that that isn't possible i'm just going to ride the wave of these playoffs.  i'm NL to the end, even when the Dodgers are playing.  too many past SF Giants on that team for me to root against them, but i'm barely over the Cards eliminating the Giants in '87.

GO BASEBALL!

scotty, sorry your bucs didn't make it to the next round.  they had a great run!

I just wanted to check in and make sure BH didn't jinx his team again. I started to get worried after last night.

Seriously though, Cardinals, beat the Dodgers. Beat Kershaw in game 6. I know it sounds difficult, but you guys can do it.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I've been loving these playoffs. Awesome pitching, awesome drama. I know that not everyone likes this kind of baseball, but two strong starters dueling in high tension playoff games is about as good as it gets for me.

I'll use my neighbors as an example. They're TOTAL bandwagon A's fans, and they went to game two in Oakland. This was the first Verlander/Sonny Gray game where Sonny went like 8 innings, outpitched Verlander, A's won. 1-0. Awesome game. I talked to them the next day, all stoked for them, that they got to see a classic game like that, with the Coliseum frothing at the mouth with playoff madness. They were like,"oh, it was kind of boring. Just zero, zero, zero. No runs were scored until the end of the game!"

I couldn't believe it! Idiots! I mean, I knew they were idiots before this, but this absolutely convinced me.

I'm actually rooting for the Tigers at this point. I still can't believe the Sox were up 2-1 after the first three games, with the starts that the Tigers got from their guys. That grand slam from Ortiz was pretty awesome to watch though. Dude's an assassin.

Loving October. Weather's perfect. Playoff baseball.

LOL!  These playoffs have been awesome for the baseball purists which I consider myself to be.  But for some reason, I just can't get into them.  Probably still stinging over the Indian's sudden abrupt end to it all is part of it.  I mean, going from the joy of watching them reel off 10 straight to end the season just to get into the post season only to have it come crashing to an end in the one game playoff (don't get me started on how ridiculous I think a one game playoff in baseball is) left me disinterested to say the least.  And the fact that there wasn't a team left in the playoffs once the Divisional series started that gave me any reason to watch.  And now with the LCS's going on and the 4 teams left, there isn't any one of them that I remotely would be happy for if they won.  In the NL, I can't stand the Dodgers and I can't stand the Cardinals even more.  And the same can be said for the AL as I can't stand the Tigers and I can't stand the Red Sox even more.  I know I'm missing some classic pitching matchups and some high drama games, but I just can't bring myself around to care...  :undecided:

Yeah, the one-game playoff is pretty weak, and I can understand your frustration, but you should be proud of the Indians (and I'm sure you are). They had a great season, and a strong run at the end to make the playoffs, just a year after losing 94 games. I'd call that a successful season!

Dude, watch the NL game 6. Kershaw/Wacha. It should be a good game.

  not according to the people in my neighborhood watering hole.  boy, it was tough to see Kershaw lose the zone so completely.  well done, Cards!

with both teams having red & white as their uniform colors how will they tell one another apart on the field?

No doubt I'm proud of the Indians for what they accomplished this year!  No small feat to have the turnaround from 90+ losses to 90+ wins!  And they have a good nucleus to build off of going forward.  It's just what they do this off season that will be telling...

I will say though, I am glad the Dodgers are out. Getting thrashed in your elimination game is pretty embarrassing too. The only better loss would've been if they lost by one run due to a Puig error.

Yeah the Puig errorS were a nice bit of icing on the cake.   As hard as he makes it to like him, he sure is a special talent.   What an athlete!   Hope he realizes it someday and changes his approach a bit.

There was a LOT of memories creaping in around here of losing to the Giants after being up 3 games to 1 so it was nice to have a game 6 laugh-er to relax a little for a change.   Playoff baseball is tough on my heart.

Kershaw should let Wacha borrow his Cy Young award once in awhile.

Puig is pretty amazing. He wasn't the only reason, but the Dodgers completely turned their season around as soon as he got called up. They had a lot of early injuries (Greinke getting his collar bone broken against the Padres), but Puig's playing paid off immediately and just lit a fire under that team, probably saved Mattingly his job. There was a month stretch somewhere near July or so where they were something like 23-3.

LA is going to sign Kershaw to a longterm deal this winter, and that ownership group doesn't seem to have any ceiling on their payroll. As a Giants fan, it's scary to see them willing to spend like they have been for the past year.
