Hey bkfd, good to see ya!  You look like you just came from shooting Okonokos!  I didn't think you'd survived that bear attack!

I followed your links to some VERY COOL photography.  Nice work.  Welcome to the forum.

I noticed a sort of Sabbtier effect to some of your shots, though I've only applied it to 35mm hand-developed black and white a LONG time ago.  Are you shooting digital?  I came upon a similar effect when shooting my (then) 4 Omnichords for the johnnYYac website and fiddling with basic software.

The fact that my heart's beating is all the proof you need.

Thanks for the compliment, johnnYYac - and thanks for the welcome as well!

I shoot digital, 35 and medium format and depending on the picture TtV ( http://www.russmorris.com/ttv/index.html ). I DO* love the bizarre velvety, cold of solarization. I think what you might be referring to is HDR...but now that you've mentioned solarization that reminded me I've been realllllllly wanting to do that with portraiture.

Man, I love this forum. It seems typically on forums there are dickheads hiding behind keyboards waiting to pick fights with people but everyone here has been so positive and friendly...all thanks to the music I imagine.

Cheers!

Welcome BKFD.com,

This board is a refreshing change of pace in contrast to other boards, most of which i rarely bother with anymore myself (too much static, too many trolls). The music discussion here is always solid and on point, the community is very welcoming and positive welcome aboard!

That was a crazy fun night. It's a long story, but through a bunch of random events I came in contact with Sonja and she initiated the whole thing. Got me the pass and arranged some face time with Spear. I haven't met a lot, but I have met a few of my musical heroes and nobody was like Spear. I'm not a crystal-rubbing, hippie-dippy type, but it literally seemed like the dude emanated happiness. It was really weird and amazingly cool.
Only thing that came close to my GD addiction was Spear. Guy is truly a living legend and I guarantee his touring days are numbered. He wanted to stop touring a few years ago and then got in a big battle with his record label and has since gone independent. Because he got screwed out of a shitload of money and product and is now independent, he has been a bit more aggressive about recording and touring again. Luckily he lives in Queens now which means any shows that do happen will most likely be in the States. I know he has new material since "Jah Is Real", so hopefully another album soon and then a small tour to promote it. Will def let ya know if I hear anything.

Few more pics...

and Sadie...

This is her "I've been bad" pose. WTF is up with that leg? It always looks to me like she's trying to curtsey.

Sadie is soooo adorable!  :)

As some of you know, I took the NY Bar last month, and I have a superstition, that whenever I am preparing for something big, I don't shave or cut my hair (I know, weird superstition)  So I figured I'd post a pic of what I actually looked like once it was all over

I've since shaved (the ladyfriend threatened to leave if I didn't)
Osama???

Holy crap that doesn't even look like you!

Brooklyn huh??  What are your feelings on Brooklyn Bowl (im just assuming you've been there)?  I've gotten a lot of mixed feedback on that place but im trying to go Weds for Phosphorescent.

Also, im coming from long island and am pretty clueless about Brooklyn so any navigational tips you may have would definitely help me out.  I know i take the LIRR to Woodside, but do you have any idea which subway train(s) I need to take from there?

;D ;D faraday .. i know which guy your talking about. i ran into him @ BK flea a while back and after we chatted my friend came up to me and was like "HOW DO YOU KNOW HIM" thinking it was that guy.

Murph ... BK bowl is great. it can become a clusterfuck but it's easy to work the room if you want to .. no matter how crowded or late i show up, i always shimmy up to the very front far right. there's always a semi-empty pocket there and i love to have a spot to put my coat/purse/drink/whatever. also .. i doubt it will be very crowded. is the G train anywhere near you? if so .. take it to Lorimer Metropolitan and transfer to the Manhattan bound L train and go one stop to Bedford Ave. and it's a nice little walk from there :)

Well,
If MMJ plays Virginia or NC, I'll host a MMJ fan weekend at the house and open up The Bue Lounge as well as the Music Cave/ Bar/ Studio/Pool Room/ Harley Lounge downstairs too. If you're gonna do it.... do it big. I'd open my home to other MMJ fans in a heartbeat. We could watch Oko on the big 56 inch tv in hardcore surround and drink multi colored drinks until we stagger down to the Cave. All in all, it would be a fantastic experience.
