Nothing like a budlight tallboy on a brisk autumn night, alone, and infront of your computer.  Living the dream......
B,  you need to come to StL and hang out and drink a real tallboy. The Belleville tradition: STAG. The only way to drink it is in a 16 oz can

Got a group of 12 coming over today for an all afternoon tasting.  Everyone must bring a minimum of 3 craft 22s, preferably seasonal.  All will be shared.  If all goes well, we will have tried around 40 beers each at a minimum.  Should be a great time.

I had waaaaaaay too many Ontario craft beers last night at my friend's bar. Sooooo hung over today, and I had to play hockey tonight. I had nothing but Beau's Lager and Mill Street Tankhouse fumes in my fuel tank. I think I skated off most of the beers by the 3rd period, but it was too late and we lost 5-2. If you Yanks ever come to Ontario, I have a list of beers for you to check out. We are a little slow on the IPA uptake, but we're coming around.

I'm a huge fan of all things Unibroue. Are they on the list?

I don't normally drink beer from that brewery. I like Quebec beer, but if I'm thinking about La Belle Province brews, I get something else such as McAuslan's St. Ambroise Pale.

Ontario has gone nuts over craft IPA. I'll recommend Flying Monkey's Smash Bomb Atomic, Muskoka's Mad Tom and Great Lakes Brewery's Crazy Canuck (which is more of an APA than IPA). Mill Street Tankhouse is also an APA.

I'm not sure what the deal is with the IPA craze. I'm ok with milder IPA's. But everyone is going batshit crazy on making them stronger and stronger. Not a tasty experience IMO.

Out of curiosity, how come you do not drink much from Unibroue?

I don't know. Never gave it much thought.

Flying Monkey has a beer they call "almost IPA". It's one of my favs called Hoptical Illusion. They also have an upcoming IPA that apparently breaks the record for the most hops.

Have been to a couple of excellent ale festivals recently. Always a good time & one of them was held at hogwarts! http://www.legothique.co.uk/Welcome_.html

Managed to find some bottles of my favourite seasonal ale yesterday - Christmas has come early!!!

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that one DB. I believe they make Hobgoblin?

Wait, a beerfest at Hogwarts?! Fuck. I need to get that job in our International group so I can take "business trips" when stuff like this is going on.

I think I would pass on the record hops breaker. I like to drink my beer not spit it out.

For Unibroue, there darker Belgian style ales are amazing. They have a couple lighter ones that are very good. La Fin Du Monde is about as hoppy as they get.

They do indeed Sir! Hobgoblin in a bottle is nasty, on tap it's sublime!

It's a bit bitter up front ain't it.

I tried their Gingerbeard a few weeks ago, good but I've had better ginger beers/ale. They had a heavenly seasonal elderflower ale in the summer...

mjk73

I'm interested in the Elderflower one. I'll have to see if any of the beer geek stores around here have any.

mjk73

Not sure if you get Goose Island there DB, but they have one made with Hibiscus, outstanding.

This may end up as my fav Holiday beer for this year. We'll see. Peach, pecan, malt. Excellent.

If anyone lives in the Santa Cruz, CA area.  This place makes the worlds greatest beer.

I like your brash enthusiasm. I'll wager that Germany makes the greatest beer, and Augustiner from Bavaria is the best brewery of the great. I was stunned about how amazing the beer is in Bavaria and Germany as a whole. They treat beer like wine and/or champagne and brew every type. Even their most popular exports taste better there such as Beck's and Löwenbräu. However, Augustiner Hell and Oktoberfestbier are the nectar of the gods. Unfortunately, you can't get Augustiner in NA or anywhere, but a couple of their less popular brands are imported by a PA-based company.

I cant argue with that.  I was an exchange student in Germany many years ago.  That is where I honed my beer drinking skills.  It would be nice now that I am seasoned booze hound to go back overseas and revisit some of the best beers Europe has to offer.  When I hit the lottery I will put together a world beer tour.  Come one, come all!   That being said; Boulder Creek rivals the worlds best beers in my opinion.

Man, I'm really not a fan of German beer.

Did this this weekend:

http://beerhoptacular.com/

Was just okay; nothing too spectacular/unusual on tap.  I had some people over before the fest for California cheese and beer, which was nice.

Really looking forward to this this weekend:
