How 'bout some New Belgium Snow Day on our first snow today?

Y'know, I think was my favorite of the New Belgium beers I got last week.  We went to Callaway Gardens in Ga for Thanksgiving.  I took some Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale (very good) with me and some Terrapin Hopsecutioner.  Also very good, although I had five of these after drinking a respectable amount of bourbon.  Ouch. That night (and pretty much the whole next day) was kind of a blur.  When I came to my senses the following day, I got some Ranger and Mothership.  Then, the next day, we got some more Ranger, Fat Tire for my wife and Snow Day. I like Ranger a lot but honestly no better than several beers that I can get locally.  I was glad to try all of these, but even more glad to know that the beers I can get locally are every bit as good as New Belgiums's offerings.

I know a lot of people see Sam Adams as a "gateway beer" to the craftier side of brewing, and its become popular to hate them and their beers, but damn if Old Fezziwig Ale isn't one of my favorite seasonals.

They do some things right.  I tried the Sam Adams 2011 Utopias a few weeks back and that was nothing short of amazing.

The video's pretty funny, too.

I know pumpkin season has passed, but a few weeks ago I had Southern Tier's Pumpking and it was easily the best pumpkin beer I have ever had.... I've only had 5 or so different pumpkin beers because they aren't really my thang but damn that one was good. Tasted like pumpkin pie crust or something.

Their Black Lagar is really good when avail. I hate their Boston Lagar as it tastes funky and not is a good shake your ass kinda way. I do love their glass also (Thanks Teo I still use it all the time).

Sam Adams Black Lager was the first beer I ever legally purchased... a case of it the morning I turned 21.  8) Still love that stuff.

To know that all of those letters you wrote weren't in vain must make you feel great.

All I can say is it's about time.

We got a keg of Stone's Dirty Bastard Ale which is a Scotch Ale.  I don't know why we got it, we don't need a guest tap but I'll let you all know what it's like once it's tapped.

I am visiting a small local brewery again tonight, where they open a bar every Thursday and Friday evening.  They started out in their garage 4 years ago, and moved to their current larger premises about 18 months ago.

The people are lovely, they do excellent chilli-infused pork scratchings, and the beer is extremely tasty:http://prospectbrewery.org.uk

Their Silver Tally is a great 3.7% session beer.  Current seasonal favourite is Pickaxe - a 5.0% traditional porter.  Mmmmmmm.

The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side
