Sleazy Rider

Quotehave any of y'all seem across the universe yet? no one is showing it near here, and i am dying to know if it lives up to the hype...

I can't find it playing anywhere close to me in OK, AR, or MO. I read somewhere that it was playing in 1 theatre in CO. and a few in CA. Mostly a London & Liverpool release maybe. Can anyone tell us how many screens it opened on in the UK?
Thats pretty fuckin' weird that we can't find it anywhere.
Politics. It's a drag. They put one foot in the grave, and the other on The Flag.

Looks excellent, no release date here  :'(

Hype! - disappointing. Some good interviews but not enough good live clips (for budget reasons?)
For example, you'd get a short interview with Van Conner or Kim Thayil but instead of following it with a live clip of The Screaming Trees or Soundgarden you'd get live clip of The Shit Eaters or some other obscure, never made it/never will Seattle band.

Moartea Domnului Lazarescu (The Death Of Mr. Lazarescu) - strangely compelling little Romanian movie.

Thank You For Smoking - very good. Best movie I've seen in a while!
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

I finally saw Paper Cut today.  I played an extra in the bar scene, so that was cool to see me with long hair again.  At Dawn is in the movie twice and it was cool to see all the louisville stuff.  the movie itself was so-so. unfortunately the scene I was most prominently featured in got cut but oh well.

aMD

the scene that was cut is at the end in the outtakes. woah

I tried watching "Fishing with John" but I kept getting distracted, just didn'g hold my attention.

Really enjoyed "The Host" this past weekend--great monster flick.
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

Death Proof - BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!

We couldn't stop laughing after the final scene.  It's one of the best movies I've ever seen in a pure visual sense.  Tarrentino (sp?) has an amazing eye.

There's Still Time.........

I've read such mixed reviews for this one, it seems to be a love/hate thing.
I just came out in movie theaters we should get it on DVD early next year. I thought about buying it but it's pretty pricey. Maybe they're trying to make back the money they lost with Grindhouse?

Sunshine - incredible to look at, this movie starts with a lot of potential but becomes huddled and confusing & eventually falls flat on it's face. Still worth watching though.

Last night I saw Blue Velvet and tonight i just finished watching Mulholland Dr. I don't think i've ever been this confused by a movie before. Some movies like Vanilla Sky and Donnie Darko might seem confusing at first, but after a couple viewings you get it. After reading some theorys on Mulholland Dr., I don't think theres any clear answers.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

But with that one scene with Naomi Watts, do you really need to know what's going on? Naomi Watts + umm doing that = WOW

OH yeah bro'!  I loved how he gave the picture that "run through the mill" feel at the same time he staged it to appear to be a classic 70's exploitation flick.  Russell pulls of a great psycho in this one!  I can't wait to pick up Plante Terror (my copy of Deathproof has a $5 coupon for the purchase of that one!).  Cherry Baby and her "G-leg" awesome!!!!!

28 Weeks Later

...it all happened very fast, so fast, in fact, that I said to myself, "Wow, this movie must be two and a half hours long." Unfortunately, it ended about 5 minutes later. You see, nothing really happens in the movie. If it had been an hour longer, maybe it would have allowed time for a true plot to develop. There was definitely a premise, but the story had no time to take me anywhere - there was no resolution. Sure, it's a zombie movie, and those never have resolutions, but the audience needs something to take home.

Characters were killed off so quickly that I wasn't really sure why I was supposed to have any emotional investment in them or the story, anyway. Kill off too many characters too soon, and the viewer won't care. It's all the same, after a while.

Good zombie flick, but it fails to carry the viewer in the same direction that the original did. Hopefully we'll get a 28 Months Later.

I still have to see this one. I loved 28 Days Later!

But I bought some DVDs last Sunday:

The Devil's Reject
Fight Club
The Boondock Saints
Tales From The Crypt (32 episodes, uncut)
Killers (Mike Mendez)
The Evil Dead

Holidays in one week!  8-)

You can download a 12 minute prologue cilp for free from The Darjeeling Limited on itunes. Search for Hotel Chevalier. You get to see Natalie Portman's butt in it.

Knocked-Up - a decent flick. It had warm chuckles rather than belly-laughs.
