Yeah really disappointed.
Jonah Hill's character was just too much & as much as I liked Seth Rogen in Knocked Up the cops just weren't funny, especially Bill Hader. & how many times can you say McLovin & except it to be funny?!! I know I'm in the minority but I really didn't like it.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Rushmore

Actually liked The Royal Tenenbaums a lot more.
Great music though, and Bill Murray is a joy to watch, whatever he does.

Won free tickets for I'm Not There and I'm looking forward to No Country For Old Men (released here January 23).

Thanks to db, I watched Dead Man's Shoes. I would highly recommand seeing this. Such a great film. Paddy Considine gives such a chilling performance. Thanks again db. Best Buy gift card is calling me and it's telling me to buy this!

Just received 'Viva Knievel' in the post this morning (shipped in from the States).

A cold beer (or two) and a lazy boy recliner await.......

He's certainly taken a different path of late, hasn't he?

Kung Fu Hustle.  Bought it on DVD for £3 from Tesco.  Money well spent.  ;D
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

Has anybody seen "The King of Kong?"  It was in limited release and I guess it is going to go wider soon.  It's a documentary about these Donkey Kong dorks; supposed to be great.
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.

This Is England

Simply incredible - One of the most powerful movies I've watched in ages.  The young actor lead was spellbinding (IMDB tells me he had never acted before) and the soundtrack was marvelous too.  I'll be on the hunt for Dead Man's Shoes next db!

Maybe you'll listen to my recommendations next time instead of waiting to see what Ricky Gervais has to say?  ;)

I still haven't seen this.  Where did the past few months go?  I think I'll buy it at the weekend.

If you don't own them already Mark, I would seriously consider the boxset with This Is England, Dead Man's Shoes, Room For Romeo Brass & 24/7:

QuoteAnyone going to see Cloverfield next weekend? Some good reviews are coming in. No release date here in Japan.
No release date for There Will Be Blood either & we don't get No Country until March  :(

Cloverfield? Yep! Those other 2 are brill btw. Heima should be coming to your mailbox soon db, just cheked amazon 4 the order status.

Longford - great movie from HBO. Jim Broadbent, Samantha Morton and Andy Serkis were all excellent in this true story about Earl Longford's relationship with infamous murderer Myra Hindley. It deservedly won 3 Golden Globes this year.

Just saw it. It was an ok monster flick, did what it was supposed to. Nothing groundbreaking or anything. Pretty dizzying, though.

The best part happened at the end of the film. Suddenly everything and everyone in the theatre went silent, except for my friend in the front row who was laughing her ass off at the most serious moment in the entire film. Funniest moment of the year for me so far.  ;)
In another time, in another place, in another face
