The Darjeeling Limited

Wes Anderson strikes gold once again.  Fabulous film.  All three leads were great, especially Adrien Brody.  I'd love to see him and Wes work together again.  As usual, some amazing sequences timed perfectly to music - the slow-motion scenes set to Kinks songs gave me goosebumps.

Over the weekend I saw "The Waitress". While it is most certainly a chick-flick, it is also one of the best movies I've seen recently. It's HUGELY likeable, emotionally real with solid acting. Keri Russell does a really great job! The guy who plays her husband is also outstanding. The thing about this movie, is that it could've taken a wrong turn so many times, been WAY too over-sentimental and sappy, but the conflict and friendship and tenderness were written and acted so well, just such a successful movie. I did feel like some of the dialouge was maybe a little too smartly written, but it doesn't take away from the feeling. I thought it was excellent.

Changing topics...CONGRATS to No Country For Old Men! The Coen brothers deserved their wins, as did Javier Bardem. That was a hell of a good movie they made, certainly the best one I saw last year. Oh, and (changing topics again) Katherine Heigl with that red dress, red lips and vintage hair style...my god what an angel.

there isn't an oscars thread so I'll just put this here. I can't believe that the coen brothers finally won best director and best film and it's first movie of theirs that I haven't seen in the theatres since Fargo (their last major oscar run)!  okay, now i NEED to see it!!!

Once - my enjoyment of this movie was unfortunately ruined after having been a clear indication of how it would end  :(

Notes On A Scandal - very good with an excellent performance from Judi Dench (no surprises there!)

+ Magnificent 7 & Where Eagles Dare - gotta love the classics!
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Coen Brothers deserved it. My only complaint was that Into The Wild should've at least had more nominations.

Just saw Be Kind, Rewind. It's more comedic than Gondry's other films but doesn't stretch too far. The hopeless romantic, confused love story is absent from this but it still has heart. If you like Gondry you'll like it. I'm in awe of his visual style and artistic creativity.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

It's a tragedy that Waitress writer/director and co-star Adrienne Shelly was murdered in her NYC apartment before the film was released. At least they caught the fucker, but it really puts a damper on me ever viewing the film.

Was that because of me or your genuine perceptive skills? I don't think the ending is that important to liking or disliking the film (it's just an honest and sweet capper). The great music and the friendships are the keys to why Once is a beautiful film. It's probably my favourite film of this decade so far. It's not like watching The Others or any of those M. Night Shyamalan flicks and knowing the ending, thus rendering them unwatchable or un-rewatchable.

...I didn't know that. That's horrible. She was a young woman too. You should see it though.

'My Blueberry Nights'

Film was average but soundtrack was very soulful! Great version of Neil Young's 'Harvest Moon' by Cassandra Wilson.

The Darjeeling Limited - I liked it a LOT, definitely not Wes Anderson's worst film.

The post below contains spoilers regarding the movie ONCE so I've changed the font colour to white:
OK, so the ending is not that important in relation to liking or disliking the film for you but knowing the ending before the film has finished is for me, especially when it has a will they/won't they? question running through it. The great music & the friendships are the keys to why Once is a beautiful film for you but the romantic element was just as important for me...different people take different things from movies for different reasons and I don't need someone else telling me how to enjoy a film.
The film is both a musical and a romantic drama. By mentioning that the film doesn't have a typical Hollywood ending you made it pretty clear that they wouldn't end up together.
It is widely accepted among serious movie fans that you should NOT give away the ending when commenting on a film.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Sorry to make you so angry Dragonboy. I guess "non-Hollywood" meant only one thing to you when referring to that particular movie. I never thought that phrase would tip you off especially because the very last scene has nothing to do with Hollywood. I think Glen's character even knew early on how things would end. I'll never suggest a movie to you again.
