QuoteThis, really, really pisses me off. Richard Kelly's last movie was horrible so normally I wouldn't care what he does with his career but Donnie Darko is a great movie and I'm sad to see it reduced to this. I hate Hollywood so much.

Richard Kelly has nothing to do with this though. Southland Tales was amazingly bad, disappointing compared to how good Donnie Darko is. I will probably see this but with low expectations. If it sucks, it won't ruin Donnie Darko for me.

Never heard of Southland Tales until it was a preview on some movie I rented. I really want to see it. Not expecting even a very good movie out of it, but it looked very interesting and entertaining

It's not, I wouldn't recommend. I was drunk when I watched it though.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

I found it to be the complete opposite of entertaining.

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

When I saw Sam Jackson as Sgt Fury after the Iron Man credits--I soiled myself.  I am soooooo salivating for this movie trend to continue indefinitely!  At least now Hollywood is drawing from some cool classic material.
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

QuoteWow...I had no idea! My feeling in this case is don't mess with the classics though, no need for silly prequels, sequels or 'companion pieces'

I LOVE this movie!!! (love this song too)

That new movie Soul Men he's got coming up looks like it could be pretty funny.

I didnt realize that Bernie Mac had anything coming out still after he died

Isaac Hayes is in that too, might be sad seeing them both together...

I read that earlier today. I'm pleased that Paul Giamatti is play Col. Parker and Coscarelli is back at the helm, but with no Bruce Campbell makes the film less interesting to me. But I must say, I hope Ron Pearlman does take over for Bruce as Elvis - one cult hero replacing another.

I watched Southland Tales for about 16 min...I couldnt handle the "this movie is so awesome but over the top and waiting for something to occur" to go to the side

For 20 min..that movie blew

Totally stoked for Bill Mosely's new movie:  "Repo:  A Genetic Opera"  looks totaly sick!

One of my girl friends from work is also, but only because Anthony Head is in it.

'Stop-Loss'

Still thinking about it...

A hard hitting film in places.

Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire looks excellent, can't wait to see it.

Have you ever seen The Long Goodbye? It's my favorite Robert Altman film and one of my favorite movies in general.

I haven't.  I must confess this is only the second or third Altman film I've seen (MASH has been one of my favourite comedies for years).  Been reading a great book (Easy Riders, Raging Bull) on Hollywood in the 70's and it's got my interest in film piqued.  I'll add that one to my 'list'.

Vera Drake - I don't have the articulation or vocabulary to do this film justice. It was understandably nominated for 3 Oscars & won 3 BAFTAs (including a well deserved best actress award for Imelda Staunton) Mike Leigh is a genius, I urge any series movie fan to see this film!

Is it bad that I laughed my ass off non stop during Religulous?
Should I feel guilty?  As a pacifist, half Asian Indian half Japanese guy of no religious affiliation, I couldn't get enough.  I'm wondering why Maher didn't take shots at us Buddist/Shintoists.
