Knowing - Disaster movie meets Sci Fi thriller, from director Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City). I liked it a lot despite all the bad reviews on IMDB, I'm glad I decided to purchase it anyway. Great special effects and the acting was good enough that the effects didn't have to carry the film alone.

Trying to see Public Enemies tonight.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Dark City, now that was a great one.

Best Ford line in any movie, "GET OFF MY PLANE!"

I almost said Air Force One too when I mentioned The Fugitive as another badass Ford movie. That movie was good, but Gary Oldman brings it up another notch.

He has a lot of good movies where he's not so badass too though  ;D
gary oldman has never not been a badass

Romeo is Bleeding?

Thats gotta be either from that or The Professional.

(and Romeo is Bleeding is pretty awesome for anyone who never saw it)
When people want to see badd ass GO, I always tell them Romeo is Bleeding. I have a serious man crush on Gary.

He is so fantastic in Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead. I would HIGHLY recommend that.

Gary's drug dealing pimp character (Spivy) in "True Romance" was a trip but I think my favorite Gary O characters (in order) were:
1) Stansfeld
2) Dracula
3) Sirius Black
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

Bram Stoker's Dracula is so underrated.
GO always looks so different in all his roles, very chameleon-like.

Yes, he plays Drexl perfectly as well as Lee Harvey Oswald in JFK. I think he is cast perfectly as Sirius. You never struck me as the HP type.

Tough question. Hard to order his performances, and a lot are probably too close to call, but i'll say:

1) Jackie Flannery (State of Grace)
2) Sid Vicious (Sid and Nancy)
3) Jack (Romeo Is Bleeding)
4) Stansfield (Leon)
5) Ivan Korshunov (Air Force One)
6) Dracula (Bram Stoker's...)
7) Drexl Spivy
8) Zorg (The Fifth Element)
9) Gordon (Batman)
10) O.W. Grant (Interstate 60)
11) Albert Milo (Basquiat)

I remember really liking Dracula, but its been a long ass time since Ive seen that one, and I remember liking it for more than just Oldman so maybe that one would be a little higher. I dont know that Id call it underrated though, It made $82.5 in the USA and almost $216 mill worldwide, and I remember it being real popular once it was on video, HBO, etc. Maybe forgotten is a better adjective than underrated.

Drexl Spivy would be higher but I cant warrant that with only 5 minutes of screen time.

I guess somewhat surprisingly because he has a lot of other big name movies, thats all I've seen him in.

I based that on what was on IMDB, but i guess 7.2 ain't that bad of a score. Still, there's lots of haters there.

Saw the ol' dub feature at the drive-in last night...

Public Enemies

Seeing the trailers for this, I thought it had a chance of me putting it in the same sentence as Heat since Michael Mann directed it. After hearing some people's reviews of it since it came out, I lessened my expectations and enjoyed it and thought it was good (Id say the last very good Mann film, Collateral, was better, but its a tough comparison since that movie was suspense the whole way basically).  I thought Depp was great, and despite me thinking of Bale as a great actor for some time now, I wasnt sure if he could pull off a FBI agent. I found him a bit over the top, but he was still good, and maybe thats how his character Melvin Purvis was in real life anyway. I wanted more Marion Cotillard and Bale in the movie by the time it ended, and their supporting roles shouldve had more screen time.

Ive seen people complain about the action, but that was on par with what I expected...Maybe I was just talking every time, but it seemed like multiple times scenes turned very quick with basically no buildup or explanation and left me more questioning how that just happened, but not lost in the story. Tying in with the title, I thought is was great how Dillinger just did whatever he wanted, in public or otherwise. I heard the movie is pretty accurate until the end, so was that scene where he just walked into the unit after him's headquarters true or not? Dont know if the ending was historically correct or not, but didnt like how that went down.

I definitely want to watch it on my own TV once its out on DVD as opposed to the drive-in, but I thought it was good. If anything, I think it will grow on me with repeated viewings thanks to the acting, but I could be wrong. I have a feeling i'll still probably prefer Depp's last mob-related movie though, Donnie Brasco (IMO this one is underrated).

The Hangover

Awesome. I think I posted my cousin told me best comedy ever, I wouldnt go that far, but it was very, very good. Repeated viewings shall tell the tale of how it holds up for me, but I think Zach Galifianakis alone keeps this movie entertaining, the rest is just icing on the cake.

Not at the table, Carlos!!!  ;D

Bruno - Fucking hilarious and NOT for the easily offended or weak of heart. I'm positivly shocked it was an R rating with what they left in. I have got to see what was cut to get it off the NC17 rating it was sitting at. SBC will do anything for a laugh it seems.

Pourquois?  The Potter movies (and their premise) are great entertainment.  I thought Order of the Phoenix was the weakest of the lot.  Was EXTREMELY bummed that Sirius gets knocked off.

Yes they are very entertaining. Never read the books? Anxiously awaiting Half Blood Prince, which is my favorite of the books, however I'm probably just going to get mad because of the cuts they made which I feel are unforgivable. We'll see how that turns out. The changes I've read about are going to make it very hard for them to do Deathly Hallows well.

mjkoehler

That and Alan Rickman is absolutly perfect as Severus.

you think theyll release the original version on DVD?

and this just occurred to me, but honestly how much less money would the movie make if it was NC17 instead of R? I dont think too many parents would take their 15 year old or whatever to Bruno, so IMO it wouldve made just as much $$$ basically if it was NC17
