It has a 4.5 out of 10 on IMDB, good luck! You should get to pick the next movie, there are several potentially good movies out right now. Or you should show her a good vampire movie like Let The Right One In, or Thirst (witch I just recently watched).
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

It was ok, if not better then the first. That's not really saying much. It was scary sitting in a theater that was 98% female and a collective Oh! going out anytime anyone went shirtless. I'm gonna have to make her watch Lock, Stock, and 2 Smoking Barrels or any Shane Meadows film now to rebuild my male psyche. Sheesh, if she wanted a romantic movie, I could have thrown in Amelie.

Is it wrong of me to say that I kind of liked it? Haha, I did though. That kid that plays Jacob cant act for shit though.

Charlie Bartlett

Didnt know exactly what to expect with this, but I liked it a good bit. Hard to say if its stealing from or paying homage to them, but there's quite a few similarities in scenes/ideas with CB and Rushmore and Pump Up The Volume that I noticed while watching. That might bother some, but I didnt have a problem with it. The story revolves around the title character going to a new school and gaining popularity as he becomes the school's psychiatrist, taking "appointments" in the bathroom and even passing out rx meds. While I dont think the movie's concept is exactly feasible, I actually could see some smart kid pulling it off at the same time in the right school. Anton Yelchin was perfect as CB, and seems like he's on the track of becoming a decent actor. Robert Downey Jr was excellent as usual as a divorced, alcoholic principal of the high school, and Hope Davis pulled off another quirky role to a tee as CB's mom. Kat Dennings (girl in Superbad that Jonah Hill wants) was also very good. The best non-comedy high school themed movie that Ive seen since Brick (which I loved), and if it gained more cult status, I might even say Charlie Bartlett is this generation's Pump Up The Volume (except its a better film overall, better acting, and less rebellious).

4.25/5

...I also watched some movie called Loaded the other night. B-movie about a rich kid law student who meets some new people and all of a sudden quits going to class and indulges in drugs and women. Entertaining and enough beautiful women in it that I watched the whole thing, but pretty bad - 2/5...I noticed Ive been giving a lot of very positive reviews lately, so thought Id throw that one in here  :P

In Bruges. Loved it. It had me laughing more than any movie has for a long time. I missed the very beginning though. But I'll be getting the DVD soon enough.

Re-watched Grosse Point Blank yesterday afternoon.  I've got a real soft spot for the film, and the soundtrack in particular.

I wish my 10 year reunion was that cool, or my 20 year which is coming in 2011.

Instead of watching the CFL's 97th Grey Cup final last night (won in the last second by Montreal over Saskatchewan), I went to see New Moon. Yes, at some point my wife will be watching the Final Four, NHL first-round playoff games, Super Bowl etc...

Anyway, I found the pacing slow for the first half of the film and the love triangle was overly melodramatic, but overall it was pretty good.

Hawkeye

Boondock Saints 2 - DO NOT GO!!!  I thought it was awful.  I kept waiting for a climax or something cool to happen, but it never did.  They basically replaced the funny guy (with the long hair and beard) from the last movie, with a funny Mexican guy...they got a couple of new guns at one point (which looked basically a lot like the old guns), and they did the whole praying thing and the pennies over the eyes...nothing new, nothing original, nothing cool in this movie.  I am pissed off that I went to it honestly.  Was going to go see "Men who stare at Goats," but chose this instead.  This is a prime example of why sequels scare me so much.  They CAN be done well, but oftentimes they are not, and they just piss me off.  Good day.
We could.

Finally Oklahoma gets this released here!  I saw it last night and does it tug at your emotions!  The story is obviously unsettling and seeing it played out in the way of the actors makes it even more disturbing.  It isn't ALL depressing though, there are still parts to laugh at.  I don't know how wide the release is at the moment but if it comes to a theater near you I recommend seeing this.

Yes she does owe you. My payment was letting me jam at a friends house all Saturday. She owes you the sports montage you mentioned.

Also, keep in mind it's the "slowest" of the 4 books. Just sayin'...

I liked Boondock Saints a lot the first time I saw it, but subsequent viewings didnt treat me near as good.

Not surprised the sequel isnt all that good.

Fantastic Mr. Fox! It was so quirky and fun -- I loved it. Wes Anderson is such a talent. *click-click whistle*

The Wrestler

Finally got around to seeing this, huge expectations, and totally delivered. I wasnt watching Mickey Rourke, I was watching Randy The Ram. I thought the realistic display of the behind the scenes wrestling  was brilliant and interesting, and really added to the film's overall impact and gave it a near biographical feel. I found the movie as a whole to almost be a character study on the fragility, desire, and impulsiveness of the human psyche. Although flawed and seemingly making bad decision after bad decision, I dont think Randy the Ram was unlikeable or depressing, he was just human. Had he made different decisions 20 years ago, his life would undoubtedly be different, but at this point, wrestling was all he knew. Absolutely loved the sequence of him walking thru the backhalls of the grocery store filmed as if he's approaching the ring, only to end up at the deli counter, which I found to be a funny and memorable scene. Aronofsky couldnt have rebounded any better after The Fountain (which all in all, I thought was okay but mindbending), and his direction and the cinematography were brilliant.

Milk is on the DVR, but I honestly dont know how Rourke didnt win Best Actor over Penn. This performance is the epitome of that award, and one of the best performances that Ive seen of the decade.

Ive only seen Benjamin Button out of the 5 Best Picture nominees of 2008, but I cant imagine all 4 of the others to be better than The Wrestler. Sure Rourke is the highlight, but it's an excellent movie in every facet. I enjoyed Benjamin Button a good bit, but Id have to The Wrestler was better in nearly every aspect besides make-up and set designs, etc.

4.77/5

The more I think about it the more I like it. It was strange, different & very well done. I found myself laughing at, even liking Bronson sometimes though and had to ask... have the film makers wrongly glorified him? shouldn't I dislike this horribly unpleasant man?

Tom Hardy (Broson) was excellent!
