No Crazyheart here as well. I will probably just end up buying it as I am such a huge Bridges fan.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - Decent movie, not Gilliam's worst but nowhere near his best. Heath Ledger, Christopher Plummer, and Tom Waits all give good performances that help carry the film. It's a bit messy, but Gilliam did pretty good considering the circumstances.

The Hurt Locker - Very good, don't think it's as good as everyone made it out to be though. I got tired during the movie so that may have hindered my experience. Look forward to watching again.

Moon - A movie I knew I'd love and it met my expectations. A great change of pace from the recent high budget blockbuster type films. If you like 2001, character studies, and mindfucks than you'll like this. Easily my favorite film of 2009. Also looking forward to watching again soon.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

Yeah, Up In The Air was filmed in St. Louis and it's all I heard about for what seemed like a year!
And George apparently is an incredible douchebag, at least he was while he was here. I hate that.

Really? I always thought George was one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. That's a real shame...

As the "story" goes, he would sit in a Denny's over by where they were filming, and drink coffee, and just be a regular prick to the waitressess and not very approachable to fans. If I drank that much Denny's coffee, I'd probably be grumpy too.

Avatar - good film, and the old story didn't bother me (it's similar to The Last Samurai, Glory and many classic westerns and samurai, kung-fu flicks, but with anti-army, anti-exploitation agendas). It certainly isn't racist and screw the Vatican and their "movie reviews". If we all worshipped nature, the world would be a better place.

Seven Pounds
Wasnt expecting much from this movie because it seemed to get a meh from most people, alongside a predictable ending. I beg to differ. Yes, I basically had the ending pegged for the most part after like 20-30 minutes in, but I also didnt get the feeling like it was supposed to be a surprise/twist ending or some puzzle that you had to figure out. I actually thought it was the opposite, that they wanted the viewer to see what Will Smith was going thru and planning on doing, and youre along for the journey, so to speak. His plans werent totally clear, but plenty of clues are all over the place. Man, Will Smith just seems to become a better actor every (dramatic) movie. I think he outdid his job in Pursuit of Happiness here. Roasario Dawson was also very good. Although a somewhat melancholy movie throughout, its inspiring at the same time. I almost shed some man tears at the end.

The Lovely Bones
Thought it was pretty good. Got a little slow in the middle third and I wish during this time there was more focus on the investigation and actual family, but the overall flow of the movie was decent. Spent more time in the dead girl's "world" than I expected, but the special effects were pretty sweet during those scenes (although after seeing Avatar, theyre almost disappointing  ;D). Reminded me of the movie What Dreams May Come in those parts, but better, quicker, and less melodramatic. Stanley Tucci was excellent and Im not suprised he got nominated for BSA at the GGlobes. Susan Sarandon was great in a smaller role, Wahlberg and Weisz did their usual solid work, and the girl was surprisingly good as well. Didnt end quite as I expected, but the ending was good nonetheless. It was my sister's favorite book for awhile, and she thought the missed a few important things here and there and skimmed other, but thought it was good.
3.9/5

Saw 'Mugabe and the White African' last night.

Simply a must if you get the chance.

I made my sister watch this a week or so ago. I think I could watch Dead Man's Shoes (along with A Room For Romeo Brass & This Is England) once a month & never grow tired of it.

Yes. Actually put a digital copy on my laptop of Romeo and Dead Man's so I can watch them anytime. DMS is so unbelievably good. Need to do the same with This Is England.

Sympathy for Mr Vengence

Well that was gruesome  :o....are the other 2 movies in the Vengence trilogy just as brutal or worse? I may not want to continue. Fucked up storyline (in a good way)
