No worries on the surreal and avant-garde films.  I enjoy films that challenge me.

Back to the matter at hand; last night I watched American Splender, about Harvey Pekar.  It was pretty good . Paul Giamatti almost always does a standup job. I liked how while there was actors playing the parts;  they also had the real life people in the film too.  Favorite scene actually is when Paul and another guy who plays Harvey's work friend Toby are sitting in the background while the real Harvey and Toby are having a coversation over gormet jellybeans.  You can tell Paul's just cracking up in the back.  It's these charmingly human touches that make me recommended this film the most.  Go check it out!

Oh; and if you get a chance, go see Schitzopolis.  My all time favorite movie.  Funny as hell, weird, with some of the best lines ever put to film.

QuoteIs it Hidden Fortress or Throne of Blood that is based on Macbeth?  I can't remember which one I've seen, and I don't think I've seen both...

(Red Beard is pretty accessible.)

Throne Of Blood.

Watched this tonight for like the fifthteenth time. Wonderful:

& yeah saw Hostel recently and I'll have to agree it was GODAWFUL.  I never cringe, this one made me.  >:( Tarantino should not be endorsing this shite. The 'E' is gettin to him me thinks. Sad.

Fun in Acapulco - my Dad & Ursula Andress, how can that not be a good movie?
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

You See Me Laughin' - no matter how many times I watch this movie I still enjoy it. When CeDell Davis starts playing his guitar with the silverware, you know you're having a good time.

Saló. Enough said, I don't want to talk about that movie ever again. I felt like putting a gun to my head afterwards.

This one made in '91 is very good too:

I knew it even before I clicked on the link. That  film put North Mississippi blues onto the music map... finally, and made a star out of Kimbrough and Burnside.

Dave Chappelle's Block Party - proof that Hip-Hop can be amazing live. The only disappointment for me was the Fugees headlining. I love Lauryn Hill but they were hands-down shit  :-/

I'm looking forward to this one. Have you seen Napoleon Dynamite? Did you like it?

Ive seen  "You See Me Laughin", and I really enjoyed it, I'm a Burnside fan. I've recently watched "Paradise Now" a Palestinian film about martyrdom, very sad and fatalistic, but a unique perspective. In turn I watched "Munich" the next day which obviously gives an antagonistic view, both very powerful and only reinforced my sadness about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

I had Paradise Now on my 2-buy list but took it off due to lack of funds (moving house!) I'll put it back on when the cash is flowing again.
I was surprised by how good Munich was.

Metal, A Headbangers Journey - great to see so many big name interviewed but I felt that the film maker took himself (& his music) a little too seriously.

Finding Nemo - if there's a better movie to watch on your new 37' flat screen TV then I don't know what it is...
Anyone seen Cars yet?

i saw it a few weeks ago with the kids at the drive-in (yes, they still have those).  now granted, i pretty much hate all movies, don't watch them any more, they just don't interest me.  i thought CARS was good for the kids, but overall, i think it was pretty weak when compared to pixar's stellar past collection of movies.  i absolutely loved toy story and still could watch that today as a 26 year old man, but i don't think cars has the longevity of a film like that, and i thought it was about 25 or 30 minutes too long.  my official rating would be something like a 6.4

Cheers Rats. I love Pixar but they were due an average movie, with a run as good as they've had it was inevitable.
Toy Story & Finding Nemo are classic movies, Incredibles is very good too...
