Was Omar there? I pity anyone sitting behind him in the theatre  ;)

yeah Omar was there too. he sat down on the floor in front of the 1st row so his afro didn't block any views. i'm not kidding. he's cool like that ;)

QuoteThe Damned United (excellent performances by Spall & Michael Sheen)

What did you think?  I love Peace's books (although I couldn't read them back-to-back due to his dense writing style), and The Damned United was a great effort.  My fear is that the film would just be an extended Sheen-does-Clough sketch...

Watched Amelie again last night.  I never get tired of the film.
There was an element of that but he does play the part the very well (he seems to become more & more like him as he film goes on) His relationships with Peter Taylor (Spall) & Don Revie (Colm Meaney) were both portrayed well & all 3 actors were excellent, Sheen & Spall especially. I didn't know anything of the story before I watched it, I'm not sure if knowing what happened could change your enjoyment of the film...

Amelie is in my Top5, like you I don't think I'll ever get tired of that film  :)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

You can never go wrong with Amelie. So charming, so beautifully shot, so heartwarming.

So far this Superbowl, seen commercials for The Last Airbender (super exicted about this awesome Nick show) and a Ridley Scott version of Robin Hood. Didn't know Russell Crow and Ridley were hooking back up, and to make Robin Hood. Excited about that.

Ha. It's the only NFL game I watch all season actually.

I saw Crazy Heart yesterday. It was great and Bridges was absolutely brilliant.
Because we're all in this together...

No SuperBowl spot for Clash? It's out next month...Warner are hardly pushing it, are they?  :-/

No spot for Clash that I remember seeing. They did show one for Prince Of Persia.....another movie based on a game. Actually, it looked ok.

Watched Gran Torino last night.  Enjoyed it very much.  Wasn't sure how it was going to end but it was perfect.
I'm digging, digging deep in myself, but who needs a shovel when you have a little boy like mine.

In the last few weeks I've seen:

JFK - Excellent movie, great ensemble cast. I might rate this as Oliver Stone's best, it's pretty close with Platoon.

Salvador - Another Oliver Stone movie. James Woods was good as usual, a character you'd expect him to play.

Ghost Dog - Thanks for the recommendation Headdy. An eclectic mix of a movie - a samurai assassin, the mafia, hip hop, Jarmusch makes it work in a way he could only pull off.

A Serious Man - Been waiting for this for awhile. Not what I was expecting, didn't really know what to expect. Basically it's just about this guy whose life keeps getting shit on, and is inept and dealing with it. There's no usual Coen plot devices here - no kidnappings or stolen money or anything like that. It did have a typical Coen ending though. I enjoyed it overall, it was very well done and beautifully filmed as usual from the Coens and Roger Deakins. I'd rate it somewhere in the middle of Coen movies.

That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

I love Ghost Dog!

Two snow days in a row and we just signed back up with netflix so I've seen a few.  I rewatched Celtic Pride.  It was better than I remembered.  I saw The King of Kong, a documentary about vintage arcade games which was fantastic.  And I watched Tyson, a documentary about Iron Mike which was fascinating. I gives you insight on him and his career but you don't really feel sorry for him, you just understand better, if that makes sense.  I love the netflix streaming movies.  I can't wait until they get the plug and play for Wii. Then it'll really be on!

I highly recommend JFK. It's not about the life of JFK, just about the assassination conspiracy.

Sadly, yes  ;D

I love Rock's stand up, but his movies basically suck

That said, I thought I Think I Love My Wife was a good movie. Besides CB-4, his movies suck. I Think I Love My Wife is kind of like Rock doing stand up periodically in the movie, with actual funny scenes to boot
