Hmm, when I heard they were making this a few months ago I thought why? why?! why?!!
I love the Rocky movies (except for 5) & No1 is one of my all time favs but this is just embarrassing.
Having said that I just watched the trailer & although I know this will stink to high heaven (the idea alone is just downright stupid) I have to admit the trailer made me smile:

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

I think any Rocky film after the first one are embarrassingly bad and downright dated, although half of II is ok. The series had some of the most hilariously unrealistic boxing scenes ever filmed.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose.  very creepy in a different way than "The Exorcist".  It made me go online and read about the girl the story was based on...very weird story, compelling really.
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

I watched the film and woke up that night at 3:00 am. I wish I was joking.

I don't think anyone watches the Rocky movies for realistic boxing scenes, do they? They're just entertainment. 1 is a classic, 2, 3 & 4 are popcorn movies which are fine sometimes if you're in the right mood. I agree that 4 is very dated...

I guess real boxing fans would have always had issues with the realism. I saw Rocky in the theatre, but as a kid, I didn't care so much for the fights as I did the training. Still do.

Anyone seen Monster?
It's been on my to-see-list forever but everytime I have it in my hand I put it back. I imagine it's hard going but worth watching.
I'm listening to BT's soundtrack at the moment which has some really beautiful moments...

Monster was another disturbing movie Chalize Theron was way into character on this but I recommend watching this one.

I watched Hitchcock's 1944 thriller Lifeboat. Fantastic war time film with great performances throughout, especially by Tallulah Bankhead.

Cheers Fanatic, I'll make an effort to watch it  :)

The main flaw with Monster is that Charlize out-acted Christina Ricci in every scene they shared together.

ice age 2 i know its (sort of) aimed at children, but it made me laugh. granted i was stuck in an aircraft at the time, but hey, it WAS funny.

slightly oddly - i've now seen the da vinci code in german (if i hadn't read the book before this, would have been very confusing as no subtitles just awful overdubbing) and bandidas in italian (same problem, but not with the storyline)

love a song for the way it makes you feel

QuoteYou See Me Laughin' - no matter how many times I watch this movie I still enjoy it. When CeDell Davis starts playing his guitar with the silverware, you know you're having a good time.

Thanks for the recommendation.  I really enjoyed this one!  Those guys lived a hard life, no wonder they have the blues.  Or should I say had, those guys are not long for the world, those who haven't died already.

Pleased you liked it MD. No matter how many times I watch this movie I still enjoy it  :)

Rewatched " A Love Song For Bobby Long" last night, I cry every damn time. Love the music throughout the film, and some great shots of the beautiful city of New Orleans.

The Thin Red Line - The best anti-war war film I've ever seen (again & again). I love Terrence Malick & wish he would make more movies more often. Hans Zimmers' score is amazing...

i actually saw it about a week and a half ago, but I thought Superman was incredible. Something about the story, and the portrayal, I don't know. I thought it was made excellently, the seriousness and goofiness contrasted well. It made Lex Luthor seem like an absolute psycho, that he was that brilliant, but surrounded by so much lunacy. And the portrayal of Clark at work in his interactions, versus his suave-ness as Superman. I don't know, brilliant.

Does it make me a girly man that I almost cried when he's talking to his boy at the end?
The river is moving. The blackbird must be flying.

My thoughts exactly on that one Dragonboy.  I love the way it is filmed showing the natural beauty and sounds of the islands vs the weapons of the Americans and Japanese.  All of the little bits of symolism are great too.  Like when the Americans are pinned down and the soldier touches the flower and it wilts and dies.  Wow

It is a movie you really need to watch a few times.  The first time it was hard to follow the character's stories and discern who is who.

I could go on and on about this movie.  Thanks for reminding me about it, my buddy has had my copy for like 2 years.  Its time to get it back:)

Malick did the "New World" which came out on DVD not too long ago.  In the first minute of the film I said to myself  "this is the same guy that did The Thin Red Line"  It has the same great visual style, but I did not get into it nearly as much.
