What Movie Did You Just See?

QuoteMy thoughts exactly on that one Dragonboy.  I love the way it is filmed showing the natural beauty and sounds of the islands vs the weapons of the Americans and Japanese.  All of the little bits of symolism are great too.  Like when the Americans are pinned down and the soldier touches the flower and it wilts and dies. Wow

It is a movie you really need to watch a few times.  The first time it was hard to follow the character's stories and discern who is who.

Malick did the "New World" which came out on DVD not too long ago.  In the first minute of the film I said to myself  "this is the same guy that did The Thin Red Line"  It has the same great visual style, but I did not get into it nearly as much.

There's a scene where the US rush the hill to take the line & a blue butterfly dances across the frame for a few seconds...
Ben Chaplin's relationship with his wife is heartbreaking...

I agree that New World wasn't as good but I think I'll enjoy it more the next time I watch it. New World also has a beautiful score...

Have you seen Badlands? Brilliant movie...
Badlands & Thin Red Line are my favs, followed by New World & Days Of Heaven (visually stunning as expected but disappointing)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Hmm, quite how you go from Thin Red Line to this I don't know but if you're an ex-comic dork like me you'll appreciate this:

Yeah, you are probably right about New World it needs a second go around.  And no I haven't seen the other two.  I definitely will have to check them out.

Yeah Chaplin's story is sad (I yelled at the screen when he got the letter), there are some other great characters in that movie too.  You have Nolte and Koteas as the evil and good in humanity, the pessimist in Penn and Caviezel as an innocent pulled into the destruction.

Now I have to watch that movie again.
When the well's dry, we know the worth of water.

Hey Vielfras, make Badlands a priority  :)

Yeah I had a time when I collected comics, weren't the Turtles much more violent in the comics compared to the live action movies?

The trailer looks pretty good, I am sure I will go see it.  Probably won't have Vanilla Ice though :)

Yer the comics were OK, nothing like the silly cartoon or movie.
I used to love this comic:

So, did any of you see Lady in the Water this past weekend?  What did you think?

jeffro79

I saw Lady In The Water, I absolutely loved it! Probally tied with Unbreakable for my fav M. Night Shamalan(sp?) movie, he also has a very prominent role in the movie. I would call this an adult fairy tale with a little comedy, a little tragedy, and great special effect. Defiantly worth $9 to see at the theater.

i kinda think right now is a pretty good time to just sit down and sing people some mother-fuckin songs

I also saw and loved it, but most people seemed to hate it!  Just curious what the people here thought.

Man, Shaun Of The Dead is one of my all time favorites.  I'll definatly be seeing this, but the trailer doesn't look to great, but then again the trailer for Shaun didn't look to great either.  I did laugh when he emptied the frig full of beer to put that severed leg in.  Shit, mabey it will be as good.

Did you like it? It made me miss Townes more...

Brokeback Mountain - A beautiful brilliant film.
I've now seen this, Munich, Capote, Good Night & Good Luck & Crash. Crash is hands down the worst of the lot!
Anyone else hear that Heath Ledger is up for the Joker in Batman2?
