I saw Scoop this weekend, the new Woody Allen movie with Scarlet Johansen.  It was good, not great.  But I am totally into Scarlet being Woody's new Diane Keaton or Mia Farrow.  Matchpoint is a much better film though.  Are there are other Woody Allen fans out there?

Sweet & Lowdown is my fav Woody Allen film. Sean Penn is excellent in that movie.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

I haven't seen Scoop and Matchpoint is a tame and failed attempt at Hitchcock. I do love Woody films and it seems that he's coming back around to making interesting films again.

"The Ringer"  I finally understand why EC says "O mylanta!" all the time now... ;)
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

After reading this list of The Top 50 Movie Endings I decided to dig out my unwatched copy of Don't Look Now. Of course, a little dated but still very enjoyable. I can quite understand why it must have been such a head-trip/shock when it was first released in '73.

Also watched Coal Miner's Daughter for the first time. How good a singer is Sissy Spacek?!! & how shit was Beverly D'Angelo?!!

Sweet & Lowdown is cool.

saw Match Point the other day and wasn't really impressed. Woody Allen's Crimes and Misdemeanors has pretty much the same story and is so much better.

The Matador - good but not as good as the reviews had led me to believe.

Really? The reviews in North America have been generally piss poor.

dogandponyshow

Fun with Dick and Jane....have to be a Jim Carrey fan and Tea Leoni is HOT...loved to her in Family Man with Nicholas Cage.  Not great but worth the rental.........anyone seen The Descent.  Great reviews but sounds creepy....any thoughts.

It's directed by the same guy who did the great British cult horror film Dog Soldiers. I'm going to see Descent soon.

The reviews I read said it was Brosan's best etc
75% on Rotten Tomatoes isn't bad...

Worth watching but I wish I hadn't bought it (my only chance sometimes - movies here are released so much later)

I saw The Descent a while back (it came out on DVD in the UK last year) & was disappointed.
It isn't terrible but it certainly isn't the 'best horror movie since Alien' or 'the best Brit-horror ever' etc etc that the press have hyped it to be.
My main problem was that all of the female characters were so unlikeable/annoying I simply couldn't care less whether they lived or died.
This said I was also disappointed with Dog Soliders too (would someone please make a good were-wolf movie?!) so if you like that then you might like The Descent.

In my opinion the best UK horror movie in recent years is still 28Days Later...

Sorry, I got the movie mixed up with that awful Jack Black wrestling film. The Matador is supposed to be decent.

Yer that one's had some shocking reviews, hasn't it?
Shame, I thought the trailer looked funny...

I really liked Jarhead.  It stayed with me for a long time after seeing it, and the more I thought about it the more I liked it.

Watched V for Vendetta last night, and loved it.
