QuoteEyes Wide Shut
Quite disturbing as all Kubrick's are, just got around to seeing this one. The music in it works really well, that creepy piano thing throughout it.
I've now seen A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket and The Shining. I'm thinking 2001: A Space Odyssey should be the next one I view, any suggestions?

Go for 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I am a big Kubrick fan, but I loathe his version of Lolita. Yes, Nabokov helped adapt the screenplay, but it still does the book a grave injustice. I suggest you skip that one all together.

Screw that. Peter Sellers was terrific in the film and so was James Mason. Recommended for anyone who hasn't "read the book". Book adaptations are always controversial. Just don't take them personally.

Another Kubrick gem is the anti war film Paths Of Glory. Kirk Douglas was fantastic and the film hits all the right notes.

I saw The Brothers Grimm last night & throughly enjoyed it! I guess low expectations can help sometimes.
Granted, some of the effects were terrible (esp the werewolf!) but it was lots of fun. I liked the set pieces & it reminded me of the fantasy movies I used to love as a kid (Sword and the Sorcerer, Conan, Krull, Company Of Wolves etc)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

A History of Violence--OK movie
Guess Who--pretty funny remake of the Poitier classic
True Romance--for like the 100th time, this time I had my Dad watch it with me and he pretty well enjoyed it 8)
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

28 Days Later is one of all-time favorite horror flicks!  (Right after Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein!)

Colour Of Paradise - a touching Iranian movie (same director as Children Of Heaven) about a blind boy & his relationship with his family, in particular his father who considers him to be a burden.

I just finally got to see Jarhead all the way through and I loved it as much as when I read the book over 3 years ago.

I watched about 30mins of Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy but didn't think much of it.
Shame, I like Martin Freeman (Tim from the UK Office)

I saw The Break-Up with my new wife a couple of days ago: We're still married. The film is good. It hits all the right notes in a bittersweet kind of way, and is pretty funny. No Hollywood ending either, which I appreciate.

Chills

The Black Dahlia

Not bad, but certainly not great.

Definitely inferior to LA Confidential.

saw III.....I don't know how I feel about it yet.

Finally saw Elizabethtown today, really enjoyed it.
Obviously great to see the guys on the silver screen. Freebird was excellent, shame there was no place for Bo.
Made think about my family. I spoke to everyone today but I still miss them...

i just saw the devil and daniel johnston.  wow!  I've been a fan fan of hisfor a while now but had no idea that his story is so amazing.  he is a true artist in every sense of the word.  The film also reminds me how fine the line between genius and insanity is.  i recommend this film to anyone.
