Hey Patches (or anyone else who has seen Dead Mans Chest)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0255148/
Is this guy in the movie much? I went to school with his brother & Winston used to come into the video store I worked in sometimes. He was trying to break into movies then...
I didn't like the first Pirates movie but might rent this one if Winston is recognisable in a few scenes.
Thanks  :)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Hmmm I don´t know who he was so I can´t tell you.
But if you know the character he palyed I can tell you.

edit: Palifico/Dutchman...ok what´s that. I watched the german version. Is it one of those half man/half seafood guys on the flying dutchman?

MarkW

City of God.  Again.  I love this movie so much.
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

Half seafood guys? haha
Thanks Patches, maybe I might watch this after all.

Jackass 2 - hmm, not as funny as the first one & a lot more gross. Maybe I'm just getting old  :-/

Watched Silent Hill last night. I lvoe it. Best thing is that they used the music from the videogames for the movie!

Dare Mo Shiranai (Nobody Knows) - excellent Japanese movie based on the true story of a Tokyo mother who leaves her 4 young children to fend for themselves.
Essential viewing for fans of international/art-house movies.

An entertaining so bad it's awesome horror movie called Blue Sunshine about people who suffer effects of the LSD they took 10 years earlier. They lose their hair and go homicidal, and there's this crazy parrot (my favorite part) and really trippy 70s music.

and

I finally saw Le Bonheur (happiness), a seminal work by one of my favorite directors, Agnes Varda (grandma of French New Wave Cinema). It's definitely one of the most visually lush movies I've ever seen with one of the most subtlely chilling endings ever.

My favorite film of hers (or any director for that matter) is still the Gleaners and I.
If you haven't seen it, you must. I won't ruin it, but here are descriptions.

Everyone has a photographic memory. Some don't have film.

Oh, forgot to mention I also saw Alice Doesn't Live Here anymore and totally dug it. Ellen Burstyn is brilliant as always and Kris Kristofferson couldn't be foxier. I totally got the sense that there was a lot of improv going on between the actors which lends itself to really interesting, authentic characters.

The second-last official Harryhausen flick. Not even close to his best, but it's still Harryhausen. He's still active at 86! The greatest special effects producer ever.

On another note, I saw Superman Returns. It was pretty good with an excellent cast. Not enough Spacey.

My wife wanted to watch A Lady in the Water. M. Night's worst film, but it isn't that bad. If you suspend belief, the film is watchable. It's better for early teens.

El Espinazo del diablo - The Devil's Backbone
http://imdb.com/title/tt0256009/

Very cool flick, happened to catch it on Sundance last night. It scared the crap out of me a few times, which is a good thing.  8-)

It's a beautiful ghost story with a soul. del Toro's newest film is the critically and commercially acclaimed Pan's Labriynth - check your local listings because it is a must-see.

And what a great way to describe El Espinazo del diablo. I think I'll have to see Pan's Labrinynth too. Thank ya kindly, Jaimoe.

I also recently saw Capote, thought it was great. Hoffman is an outstanding actor.
