"Tranformers Dark of the Moon"--I found this as enjoyable as the rest of this series of movies.  It was meant as simple non-thought provoking entertainment and delivered as such.

Like the first one, thought the 2nd one sucked. Heard the 3rd is about as good as the first.

the simple non-thought provoking, basically plotless and mindless "entertainment" is why I hate transformers. there can be unlimited action, but the predictability makes it as boring as possible.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

Eh, I enjoy a decent popcorn flick every once in awhile

Just saw Buck, the documentary on Buck Brannaman. Even if you don't really like/are indifferent towards horses you should see this movie. He is an incredibly inspiring person to watch- not just for his approach to horse training but to life. Plus they play Pearl Jam in the credits so it can't be that bad right?

The trailer is here for anyone interested:

Paranormal Activity 3: While not as good as the first or second in this horror series, the newest PA is darn disturbing. It's a prequel to the second flick, flashing back to 1988. At the beginning of PA3, the two sisters from the first two films, Katie and Kristi, are briefly reintroduced circa 2005. We are then taken back to see Katie and Kristi as young girls. Just like Katie's husband in the future, the girls' father is obsessed with the paranormal and he begins videotaping unexplained events in their home. Kristi has an imaginary friend named Toby that seems to tell her what to do. Eventually all kinds of hijinks ensues. The acting is very good and the young girls are every bit as good and even better in their roles as their older counterparts are in the first two films. The only thing that didn't work was the hastily put-together subplot involving the girls' maternal grandmother. The movie needed an extra 15-20 minutes more to explain and flesh out the main subplot, which really is the backbone of the Paranormal story. However, it's still worth seeing.

I saw it saturday nite with my 14 year old daughter and her girlfriends.
I liked it. It had us on the edge of our seats and my daughter was terrified, I ended up sleeping on the couch while my daughter slept with my wife in our bed.  I think she was more freaked out by the trailer for "The devil inside ".

here is the link for the trailer if you haven't seen it.

The same trailer played before PA3 here in T.O. too. I'm thinking this film isn't good because it breaks one of the cardinal rules by showing the entire plot in the trailer. Bad films notoriously do this. Still, I hope it's good - and the films seems to be shot with flair.

I noticed that some of the scenes in the trailer for PA3 were not in the movie.  For example when the sisters where in the bathroom together doing the bloody mary thingy and she appears.  In the movie it was the boyfriends brother and the oldest daughter in the bathroom and she does NOT  appear in the background.

I noticed that too. The scenes may have been cut, which I'm ok with given the film relies on suspense and the unknowing. Probably these scenes will end up on one of the many Blu-ray releases  ::)

Okayyyy. On to bigger and better things.

I watched The Rum Diary yesterday. I had a faint idea that it might have been from Hunter S. Thompson. It was a pretty good flick. I admire Johnny Depp's portrayal of Paul Kemp and how he delved back into the character from Fear and Loathing. I was digging on Giovanni Ribisi's character as well. I haven't seen that dude in a while.

Of course its from Hunter S. Thompson..I hear there might be a Depp trilogy actually, forget what the 3rd film would be based on.

Sticky Icky Green Stuff

Margin Call - I dug it.  good acting.  well paced for the subject matter.

Sticky Icky Green Stuff

30 minutes or less.  really loved the cast. the movie was pretty good. first 20minutes were meh but there were some hilarious parts.  Danny McBride is the best comedy pissed off dude of all time.  funniest shit.  nick swanderson was good too, he's a better supporting role like in reno 911 than his own show.  it paid off straight in the end for being such a typical movie.  I like aziz (sp?) too, funny man.

Apollo 18 - haven't finished it yet, it's annoying me that the entire thing is shot in old shitty style apollo 11 type footage.  it's too artsy for a movie that will surely be a piece of shit.  I think it's trying to be hitchcock-ish.

these formulas are played out.  I think literature people are right, shakespear had it figured out.  how to fuck with our emotions.  incorporating tragedy.  everything that's good has tragedy.

Lonely Are the Brave: A terrific western from 1962 written by Dalton Trumbo starring Kirk Douglas as a cowboy loner that refuses to give up his old wild west way of life in the face of encroaching 1950s modernism. Douglas gets arrested on purpose so he can reunite with his previously incarcerated best friend - Douglas wants his buddy to escape with him, but things have changed. Great performances from Douglas (his all-time favourite film), Gena Rowlands, Walter Matthau (he plays the lead investigator in pursuit of Douglas) and George Kennedy as a sadistic prison guard with a hate-on for Douglas. Special recognition goes to Douglas's bratty horse named Whiskey.

A Tribe Called Quest Documentary (Trailer)

Beats, Rhymes & Life - The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest

This may have been the most personally meaningful music documentary I've ever seen.  A Tribe Called Quest was my jam in late middle school and all through high school.  When everyone else was rocking the other stuff, my memories are of our first cars and A Tribe Called Quest always bumping.  I think Rappaport did alright although I wish more emphasis was placed on their impact in the early 90's and the masterpieces that were their 1st three albums.  Unfortunately, the 2nd half of the film was reduced to a somewhat incoherent narrative of the beef between QTip and Phife for around 15 years and Phife's struggles with diabetes.  The latter did resonate with me as one of my best friends is having a kidney transplant at the end of this year at the age of 33 due to complications from diabetes.  It was great to hear Black Thought and ?uest Love give it up to them and possibly attribute the Roots' existence to them.  I could have just lived with a doc of the creation of the 1st three albums.

Also watched 50/50 - That was REAL heavy but I thought it was real well done.  It was the type of film I need to see every year to help remind me to focus on the important stuff.

"Deathly Hallows Part II"  a pretty satisfying closure to that franchise.  It left me wondering if there will be some kind of "prequel" movie generated to cover the life and times of Harry's parents and their peers(?)
Sittin' here with me and mine.  All wrapped up in a bottle of wine.

Both Hollywood and Bollywood are favorite to me and i watch all movies. Recently i just saw Ra-One and Singham Bollywood movies. Ra-one is not nice but i must say Singham is awesome and must watch it. On the side of Hollywood, i have seen 3-Musketeers and Immortal, both are superb movies.
