saw Bucky Larson the other day.  I've gotta say it's a horrible movie but there are some fucking hilarious moments.  it's that ridiculous over the top type comedy.

Wait, wasn't my girl in Drive?

YOUR girl? No sir. I've laid prior claim to her.  ;)

Have any of you seen Tucker and Dale vs Evil? It's available on Netflix now. I watched it the other day and laughed my gorgeous ass off.

I'm dying to see Tucker and Dale vs Evil (I'm a big fan of Alan Tudyk and have liked Tyler Labine since the underrated TV series, Invasion). Tucker got very little distribution here in Canada (and it's a Canadian film), but this isn't uncommon for non-Quebec features (that province's has a strong industry and doesn't have to compete with Hollywood). I think I should do a double-feature night and pair Tucker and Dale vs Evil with another recent Canuck cult flick, Hobo With A Shotgun.

you guys need to watch "A Good Old Fashion Orgy" Tyler Labine is in it, Will Forte is in it, jason sudeikis.  I liked it better than tucker and dale.  thought tucker and dale was a little bit... retarded.

Other than Labine, it has little appeal for me. Anyone a fan of Labine from Reaper? That show deserved a better fate.

Saw We bought a Zoo last night. I liked it. It's a little schmaltzy, but I'm a sucker for Cameron Crowe movies. Soundtrack is great as usual, and  Matt Damon is as well. The little girl in it is the most adorable thing. I dug it.

I tend to like the current crop of SNL cast members only when they do features. Forte is one of them.

totally agree.  SNL isn't what it use to be.  Forte is hilarious when he swears, it's one of his strengths.  he says fuck and it's variations in ways more hilarious than any that have come before him.   Hader is another one whose a fucking genius but SNL holds him back, imo.  Sedeikis will have a successful career because he can kinda cross over between lighter comedies and raunchy shit.  but word, I wish Will Forte had more movies that he starred in.  the shit he does with Broken Lizards is always great.

Hader is great in movies. I cringe whenever I tune into SNL; I check it out once or twice a year just to prove it still sucks. I'm not even a Tina Fey and Wil Ferrell SNL fan. Ferrell's film career just gets better and better.

just finished the the millennium trilogy.  the swedish version of the girl with the dragon tattoo/the girl who played with fire/the girl who kicked the hornets nest.  i've gotta say, it was an entertaining experience.  the girl with the dragon tattoo is by far the most graphic and intense.   the other two feel like one movie split into separate parts.  love stuff about nazis. the rape stuff was pretty hardcore. but I liked overall how they kinda show how she is the dragon trapped inside her small, tiny little body.  extremely intelligent character, an underdog you want to win but somebody who could definitely loose the battle.

it also sorta felt like it was socialism heavy.  i dug it in the aspect of it making the criminal shit, doctors shit, etc a little more fresh than the typical american formula.

if the new version is as good, i'll be satisfied simply because I won't have to read a shitload of subtitles.  james bond looks EXACTLY like the dude in the swede version only more hollywood.  it's kinda nuts.  check it out if you haven't.

I really want to see the Swedish series. I have them On Demand, but need time to watch them all. I'm not surprised there's a socialist tone through the series since Sweden is a fairly socialist country. I'm not sure I'd notice that aspect so much given where I'm from.

yeah, for sure.  it was cool because in an american film the characters would take different court/police actions, etc.  it made the way the shit played out, at least for my naive american ass, a little more interesting.    don't want to spoil it tho.  the swede version I had was the "extended" version too so not sure how much that makes a difference.  3hours a movie instead of 2 and a half or something.

I believe the second 2 movies were split up into 4 parts for Swedish TV. I liked the American version but I prefer the Swedish version.

yeah I downloaded it.  it's divided into 6parts.  1.5hours each.  I can upload them if people want a high quality version of the trilogy and do not have access to demonoid.  they're mkv files tho so I think you need to watch them on VLC player.  it took me a while to find a version with subtitles and quality video.  the main version out there is the english dubbed version and I can't stand watching that shit, much rather would read subtitles and hear the actors speak.  watching a dubbed movie makes me feel like the audio is out of sync.

I find that you hardly ever notice subtitles if the movie is good. Also, a strange aspect is that when I replay scenes of a subtitled film in my head, it doesn't have subtitles. I think this means good/great plays out in whatever language you speak.

Sticky Icky Green Stuff

agreed for sure jaimoe.   pans labyrinth, or city of god, inglorious basterds even, it makes you pay attention and get sucked in.  the thing with the millennium trilogy is the amount of dialogue and characters.  it moves fast too.  it always seems like it's easier to understand the longer you watch it to.  it was fucking solid tho, surprised it didn't get more hype when in came out in 2009.  the movie seems like a good fit for fincher.  fight club, se7en, the game, man the dude has so many great movies.  does finchers version feel like se7en at all?  trent doing the soundtrack again, biblical shit, etc.  very much back to david finchers roots.  can't wait to see his version.

posted this in the wrong thread.  re-post for the 5people who read this section of the forum:

rampart - solid performance from woody.  dug everything minus the ending which i thought was lazy.  kinda one of those "make up your own mind" endings.  I prefer closure most of the time.   definitely recommended.

tinker tailor solider spy - decent, completely and utterly predictable.  had it figured out within the first 10minutes so the pay off was weak.  there was some decent acting done by the cast tho.  Tom Hardy is really starting to make his mark when it comes to film.

bronson - finally got a chance to watch this movie, again starring bane aka tom hardy.  solid performance and the ending sequence was quite poetic.  fun character to watch.  a little too much uncircumcised wang for me tho.  that's my only complaint.

Have you seen the original 1979 mini-series? It's terrific and it may contain Alec Guinness' best performances.
