Quote...actually that did ramble on a bit towards the end. only a little bit  ;)

Hateful...sounds a bit like The Pogues at the start. Didn't Joe Strummer sing with the Pogues for a while when Shane was AWOL one time?

Great track!
He did. And he produced one of their albums (Hell's Ditch I think).
Keep it up Andrew. This is fun  :D
HEY SUSAN!!!
Cheers for posting, I thought I was talking to myself & was beginning to feel a bit silly!  ;D
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

The Right Profile...excellent start! I thought maybe this was track 8 it's so good but that's the next one. Drunken ramblings, a shouty sing-along chorus & big horns...love this track!
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

Lost In The Supermarket...does this remind anyone else of Pulp's Common People?!! No wait...Disco 2000? Something about 'special offers' & 'shopping happily'  ;D

EDIT: this was an excellent change in pace before Clampdown.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

Clampdown...another great track!!!

Anyone seen The Future Is Unwritten? My mate (the London Calling karaoke king) thought it was excellent.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

The Guns Of Brixton...excellent track!!! (I need a porkpie)

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

Wrong 'Em Boyo...seriously, I urge you all to go out & buy this album ASAP  ;)

This is not what I expected at all. I guess I (very wrongly) thought all the tracks would be similar to London Calling? Silly me
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

Death Or Glory...ahhh now we're cooking!!! Reminds me of a Rancid song. I guess Tim & Lars are fans of The Clash? Who'd of thought?  ;)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

Koka Kola...bit of a let down after the last couple of tracks. Not that it's a bad song or anything (I'm being very careful not to offend anyone here)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

The Card Cheat...ohh piano! Bit of a stadium pop/rock sing-along anthem this one, isn't it? Yeah I like this one a lot! Love the piano! I almost heard 'I fought the law' in there a couple of times?

EDIT: A new fav...did I mention the piano?!!  ;)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

Lover's Rock...The Clash were...new romantics?!!!!  ;D ;D ;D
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

Four Horsemen...I was tempted to stand up, pump my fist & kick away at nothing along with the cymbals for a minute there! Great track
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

I'm Not Down...tiny bit indifferent to this one.
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

Revolution Rock...again, a little indifferent to this one

EDIT: could definitely do without this track. Maybe it will grow on me?
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

Train In Vain...that's more like it! That's the Clash I've known & loved for about an hour now  ;)

EDIT: excellent little closer, short and sweet & leaves you wanting to go back for more!
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

& that's it folks!

Thanks a lot to K for staring this thread, everyone who signed the petition & Greggy (Wordawg) for sending me the CD.

I truly loved it (with the exception of Revolution Rock) & would definitely play it again right now if the Robert Plant/Alison Krauss CD hadn't arrived a couple of hours ago.

Cheers again! If I disappear for a while it's probably cos someone at Rolling Stone read my posts & wants me to go on tour with & write about the 'next big thing'...kind of like in that Cameron Crowe movie, what was it called? Say Anything?!!  ;)
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

dragonboy

Oh yeah & what Clash album do i need to buy next?
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Their first. A truly great album.  :)
In another time, in another place, in another face

glad you liked it. it gets better more you listen to it. S/T would probably be the next best one, their other albums are fairly inconsistent. There's a US and a UK version of the S/T album that has a few different songs. If you get the UK version, you can get one of the singles compilations that features the songs that aren't on the US version.
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!
