You like Dave Mathews Band but hate Tom Hanks?!!  :-?  ;)

;D [smiley=tekst-toppie.gif]

I've thought a lot about this, and I think the only DMB album I truly love is Before These Crowded Streets. That's one of my favorite albums though. I also like Under the Table and Dreaming and Busted Stuff (Bartender rules), but not nearly as much

There is nothing wrong with liking The Dave Matthews Band.

Umm....I have no idea whats even on the slate for next year. Usually for me, the next 3-4 months are spent trying to find what I missed from 2007 since all kinds of lists (just like the thread here) start coming up and I can find what I like. I know theres all kinds hip hop I havent got, and I found over a handful of albums yesterday from other genres Im interested in probably getting.

That said, ill 2nd:
M Ward
Doves (although I didnt really like Some Cities, but I loved Last Broadcast and Lost Souls even moreso...so well see what the new one sounds like).

And maybe that Danger Doom 2, MF DOOM and Ghostface Killah album, or just your damn solo album DOOM!! Get off your lazy ass and release some tunage!

It's called Swwon and due early next year.  Link here:

I get the Siamese Dream correlations and that's o.k. with me.  I saw them during the Siamese Dream tour in New Orleans and they were fucking fantastic.  James Iha was very underrated and I'll take Jimmy Chamberlin as one of the purest rock drummers any day of the week.  It's a shame what happened though - they just lost me.  Someone should take Gish in that little fantasy music thing going on too.

I also hear alot of Pixie in their dynamics and transitions (whatever that means).  Dude is just so confident with his guitar and his voice (which I happen to like) will keep them from ever getting overblown.

Killswitch Engage just became my most anticipated album of 2009.  They just announced that Brendan O'Brien is going to be producing it with Adam D. co-producing.  Adam D. has done all of their records up to this point and I think that bringing in an outside producer is the best thing they could do at this point because after the last album I wasn't sure where they could go, at least from a production stand point.  Adam D. has worked on a lot of albums in the last few years and they usually fit the same mold.  They sound great but they sound absolutely pristine.  Pristine to the point where, to me at least, it loses some of the human qualities of playing.

However, I'm not sure if Brendan O'Brien is the right choice.  It makes me worry that they're going to continue down the path away from the crushingly catchy metal they're capable of and aim more towards making a really accessible pop-metal album.  At this point I'd like to see them put out the heaviest album of their career.  Just to reel some of the metal fans back in who may not have liked the more radio friendly parts of "As Daylight Dies".  As much as I hate to use the analogy, they should aim more for the heavier side of Ozzfest (ha, like Ozzfest is relevant anymore), Warped Tour.

Regardless, I'm stoked to see the result that the big change behind the desk will bring.  It should be a sweet production, even if the songs aren't all there.

I thought their debut was fantastic. I was incredibly disappointed when they had to back out of opening for Wolfmother in '06 when they rolled through St Louis. The other times they came have been to open for bands I had no interest in seeing. I love that he isn't afraid of the fuzz box.

Jimmy Chamberlin is on a whole different level as rock drummers.
