QuoteNot John Leckie? He produced their S/T debut, so the song is pre Stone Roses (the album)?
Maybe I'm confusing myself...

tis on the album, it was just recorded before Leckie was on board. early on.

I think Peter Hook produced Elephant Stone (I'd have to check my vinyl to be sure), but that wasn't on the album...
The trouble with the straight and the narrow is it's so thin, I keep sliding off to the side

dragonboy

That's where i got confused. It is on the US albums apparently.

One more question please Mark.

Why not ask the folks at home who you bumped into on his way to the toilet at a jacket gig in London last year?  ;)

Seriously, I'm off to bed...
God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

MarkW

I don't know who he was, but he appeared to be enjoying himself.  A lot.

You best get your beauty sleep whilst Tripps isn't around.  ;)

EDIT:

This question still open:

1.  Who is smashing up their instrument on the cover of London Calling by The Clash?
2.  Where was the photo taken?

Clue: It's NOT Elvis Presley, whatever db says.

1. bass player Paul Simonon
2. i didn't know the answer but noticed its on the back of the cd

do i get partial credit?
That's motherfuckin' John Oates!

You get full marks for ingenuity.  It will also show db just how useful ownership of London Calling is...

Alrighty, here's a fairly simple one:

Who did Tom Waits write "Jersey Girl" about?

You're the man, Kaley.  I would give a kidney to have been at that gig.

I've looked it up.  Elephant Stone and Fools Gold are on the US version of the album, but not the UK one.   They're two of my favourite ever Roses tracks: I've got all their 12" stuff from the early years, but no turntable at present. :(

;D  Only a matter of days now...

We've only got one question running, anybody want to go ahead & put another one out there?

Due to this, I dusted off my CD copy and listened to it tonight along with Oasis Live By the Sea DVD, it's a Britpop night while enjoying my horrible for you vodka concoctions! Even the wife enjoyed the early live Oasis.

Quotesure.

Heck of a long shot & I could look a fool here but I think it could have been Led Zeppelin?
Tried to think of famous rock bands on Atlantic & LZ were the first band that popped in to my head.
Dutsy was British, Atlantic signed LZ & their debut was released in '69.
I think the 'new rock' band thing was a hint there too.

"Atlantic was a label known for its catalogue of blues, soul and jazz artists, but in the late-1960s it began to take an interest in progressive British rock acts, and signed Led Zeppelin without having ever seen them, largely on the recommendation of singer Dusty Springfield."

Great question Meg!
