I've been listening to the pioneering Canadian '80s alt-rock band, 54-40. I wish the audio wasn't cut on the video for their awesome awesome fucking anti-war anthem, "One Gun". But they have lots of hits in Canada, so enjoy their folk rock classic, "I Go Blind", which was famously ruined/covered by Hootie & The Blowfish, followed by the kick ass "Baby Ran".

Indeed. Their front man, Ian Thornley, is a Canuck and has a less-than-stellar solo career going on right now. You will not like hearing that he is signed to Chad Kroeger's label and the fucker from Nickelback personally oversees all music from his artists. He's basically expanding Nickelback's sound though his label/signed bands.

Best Coast, really digging the lo-fi California garage rock sound, plus I really love Beth Cosentino's voice.  Just like Jim says in the VH1 Storytellers, I just love the way this girl sings and the harmonies.

The Late Night Tales mixes are always a safe bet (Midlake, Air, Fatboy Slim, Groove Armada, Belle & Sebastian etc) this one is exceptional!

Recently "discoverd" a band called "Telegraph Canyon". Anyone ever heard of these guys? I like what I've heard so far (2-3 listens of The Tide and The Current). I read someone described them as a mix between Wilco and My Morning Jacket, although I don't think that's accurate. I see them more as a kind of Mumford and Sons or something. Singer sometimes reminds me of that singer from Counting Crows with a bit Low Anthem and Arcade Fire or so. I dunno, but I like them :). They seem to be pretty unknown, as there are not many videos of them on Youtube. But I think some of you might like them, so I would recommend to give them a try and download their album The Tide and The Current. "Into The Woods" is a great song, you can listen it here on their Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/telegraphcanyon
