After a very active and incredible June and July I have nothing set up for August, but 2  great shows in September so far!

Went to The Mercury Ballroom last night, right next to The Palace and The Brown. Only 2nd time there but last night I noticed a painting of Jim James on the wall that I didn't see last time so it must be new. They only have 5 paintings on the wall so I thought this was pretty damn cool!

After a dead summer September is really shaping up nicely...

9/3   Wilco @ LC Pavillion, Columbus, OH
9/4   Wilco @ Akron Civic Theater, Akron, OH
9/10  Bob Weir and Ratdog with Chris Robinson Brotherhood @ Jacobs Pavillion, Cleveland, OH
9/17  The War On Drugs @ Newport Music Hall, Columbus, OH
9/19  J Roddy Walston @ Newport Music Hall, Columbus, OH

I'm so effing stoked to see Wilco add two nights as an apparent warmup to Lockn' here in Ohio!!!

And also, I just started a new job as the aquatics director of our local YMCA which requires me to take a course to become a certified pool operator.  There just happens to be a class in Columbus September 18th and 19th which just happens to align perfectly with the WOD and J Roddy shows!

Nice run there! I'm in Iowa and wouldn't be able to catch Strand of Oaks if I wasn't visiting NH next week.

Thanks for the comments. Surgery is scheduled for Sept. 16. I have a defective (bicuspid) aortic valve that will be replaced with a prosthetic valve.  I also have a slowly growing aneurysm of the ascending aorta, so there will be a prosthetic aortic root-to-arch repair as well, which really drives the need for surgery. Looking at a week in the hospital followed by 1 to 2 months recovery.  Should be in good shape to show off my zipper chest scar at One Big Holiday!

Bummed to see that Lucero is in town on Sept. 11, but the wife is away on business that week.  Hard to get mid-week coverage of the kids and can't be comfortable leaving them home alone...
