Scored Nick Cave tickets today for Town Hall NYC in Sept!  It's billed as a "Conversations" tour where Nick takes questions from the audience, and tells stories (I think? Maybe?) around playing solo piano songs.  I'm super excited for it.

Tickets arrived today for Dawes at Islington Assembly Hall in London in November! I missed them last time they were over here, last saw them opening for MMJ at Shepard's Bush Empire which is where I instantly fell for them!

I'm a bit cautious about Islington Assembly Hall as the one show I've seen there (Jonathan Wilson) the sound wasn't great/a bit very kinda quiet. I guess I'll find out this time wether it was JW or the venue itself that sounded bad. Although I do remember someone in the crowd saying "he's getting a lot better than he used to be" so I do wonder. I thought it was odd that the venue was originally advertised as Electric Ballroom which is actually a good venue then moved here as soon as they went on sale.
it wouldn't be a party without you

Interesting, I happen to know the sound guy at Islington Assembly Hall, and he likes it loud (also plays drums for one of my favorite English peat bog superfuzz sphagnum moss sludge bands). And when I saw JW play a full band show a while back there was plenty of volume. Was it an acoustic JW show? Better luck with Dawes!
"...it's gonna be great -- I mean me coming back with the band and playing all those hits again"

I saw him open for Colter Wall a couple years ago and thought he was the better of the two. Enjoy!

heading out to the bourbon and beyond festival here in louisville.  this is the third year, and another fantastic lineup.

if only we could get some decent september weather.  waaaay too hot the first year, rained out last year (wettest september on record), brutally hot again this year (hottest, driest september on record).

today includes pres hall jazz band, record company, blackberry smoke, lukas nelson, live, flaming lips, john fogerty, and foo fighters.  time to go try to find some shade......

I was pretty happy with the music I saw at Bourbon and Beyond this year. I was not as happy about the location  compared to the last two years, but I understand why they had to move it.
5 favorite sets from the weekend (in order of appearance):

Greensky Bluegrass
Squeeze
Jenny Lewis
Trey Anastasio Band
Robert Plant
