4/1    Warpaint @ Gabe's, Iowa City
4/4    Jason Isbell @ Englert Theatre, Iowa City
4/30  Cloud Nothings, Gabe's, Iowa City
5/6    Ben Solee/William Fitzsimmons, Englert Theatre, Iowa City
5/7    Timber Timbre, The Mill, Iowa City
5/18  Mike Birbiglia - Englert Theatre, Iowa City
7/18-20  Forecastle Festival - Waterfront Part, Louisville, KY

I'm bummed that The Head and The Heart and Of Montreal are in town the same week as Warpaint and Isbell, all part of Iowa City's Mission Creek Festival, but THATH is on the same night as Isbell and OM are on the same night as my daughter's performance with the Iowa City Girls Choir.  Still, some great music comes to Iowa City and the surrounding region.  Since we moved here last August, I've seen J. Roddy Walston & The Business (in nearby Burlington, IA), Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Bob Mould, Dawes, Built to Spill, Beats Antique, Buddy Guy, Lucius (at nearby Cornell College), and Genders.

So pumped that you are coming up for the Kadavar show, my dear.

Also, great that you are seeing The Kills, I love their shows.
My heart can't wait to meet you on the other side.

I am too! I wish I could stay longer, but to go to a show with both a ruckus and you, plus getting to see Flake is the highlight of my April!

May 2014: The M@ Show - Local H, Carl Broemel with Tim Jones/Truth and Salvage Co., and The Robert Cornelius 7.

Just grabbed some FRONT ROW tickets to see Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings in June! I find it absolutely bizarre they are playing a seated theatre, one that is notorious for "sitters" during even the most rockin'/groovin'/amazing moments. I will risk pissing off the entire theatre, but these front row seats will enable me to stand the fuck up and dance! I'M SETTING THE PRECEDENT MOTHERFUCKERS!

dmooney99

nothing bought yet but probably:

OFF!- 5/16@ First Unitarian Church
Jungle- 6-19@ Union Transfer

It was a similar deal at the Englert a few weeks ago (had front row, too), but Sharon wouldn't let folks sit! I guarantee she'll have most everyone on their feet.

TONIGHT - Lord King!  Floating Action's reggae alter ego.  I'm not sure if they're actually playing instruments or just doing a DJ kinda thing.  Either way I'm there.

I seriously thought about going to that Willie Nelson/Allison Kraus show  but it is just too pricy for me.

I hear ya. $100 + seems to be the norm anymore. Looking forward to it though as I've never seen Willie or Alison, and that really tiny Amp is just a two minute walk from my daughter's place.

The Bruce tix are even a bit more this tour. He used to keep it under a hundred but all the seats cost the same. This year he's gone to a tiered pricing so the better tix are $140ish with fees.  Let's hope Jacket keeps their tix around what they have been the past few tours.

I feel your pain Yac.  I have to miss The War On Drugs playing this Saturday in Cleveland because my daughter is performing in a ballet recital of Alice in Wonderland.  She is in one whopping scene that is all of about 5 minutes at most, but I will still be there as a proud papa...

I have to miss the war on drugs too because i'm taking my daughter camping.  darn kids get in the way.

I am going to see the National in couple of weeks (can't wait) and then going to see HAIM with the wife a couple days later.  Wife does not make out to many shows and I think HAIM will be lots of  fun for her.
