Wye Oak - Civilian (Live)
Thanks for posting Penny! Digging this song a lot, and checking others out as well.  FORECASTLE!
Love the Bmore love with Wye Oak and Beach House at Forecastle.  Now just add da Bizniss.   Wye Oak are a remarkably powerful live duo.  Jen Wasner is a commanding presence and though that video gives him no love, Andy Stack is an extraordinary simultaneous multi-instrumentalist.  Definitely recommend their live show if their music interests you in the slightest.
Thanks Ruckus! Yeah, I just did a little reading about them and it mentioned Stack doing the drums with his right hand and foot, and the keyboards with his left?  Whoa, that's talent. I was surprised that it was just a duo from listening.   Good stuff, good stuff!  I am just listening for the first time, and I'm in.  I enjoy her voice.

God will forgive them. He'll forgive them and allow them into Heaven.....I can't live with that.

Unapologetically borrowing from the guitar melodies and tone of the Byrds with a dash of the Dead along with distant lazy vocals somewhat reminiscent of a quieter Jesus and Mary Chain.  Their name pigeon holes their sound quite nicely.  I've probably blasted this track 4 times today in my car with the windows down.

This song itself isn't what is blowing my mind right now..... the fact that they played it in the BURRITO JOINT today is what blows my mind!!!  It may have won my award for "most unexpected song in public".......other than the Ween they play at Mad Mex back home in Pittsburgh... that jumped out and bit me too  :o  This was a nice treat, brought me back to the early teens

So glad you did EU :)  Oddly enough, I found a vinyl copy of this EP this past weekend at a store I wouldn't have expected to find it.  I couldn't pull the trigger for $16 for 4 songs though.

SDRE gets a bad rap.  Post-grunge, founding fathers of emo, singer found and started singing about god, half the band left for the foos...Blah. Blah. Blah.  They were fucking great for a few years.
I'm not saying it's easy...walking into sweet oblivion.
