well darn it feels good to have a ticket confirmation for a my morning jacket show again  8)

I think my blood pressure just leveled out a bit...

I echo that.. $154 presale ticket for a 3 day festival AND $166 for a condo on the beach!? This really is a dream come true!

If anyone is looking for a VERY close and affordable rental check out http://regattarentals.com/

The Regatta and Castaways units are literally next door to the stages.

YES. I'm in on this one. I may wait until the rest of their tour dates come out just in case the boys have a stand-alone show nearby but this lineup is my favorite so far.

Last year Hangout was great (as long as you don't mind commuting to the beach instead of rolling out of your sleeping bag and stumbling up to a stage via foot).

There's a campground about two miles up the beach from where the stages are, and last year they sold a $10 weekend shuttle pass that had a route through the campground. SO no driving necessary

Now I'm wondering how long of a set they will have?? Noise ordinances were an issue last year...
Alright Ezy, ya got me worried now.  Ha!  How bad were the noise ordinance issues?  I need my shows loud

When booking with a property owner I questioned the sound ordnance issues. She chalked it up to a learning curve for the locals. Being the first year they were not prepared for the type of music on offer. Word around the community is if you don't like it leave! All the retirees/snowbirds are planning a mass exodus to cash in and accommodate all the "kids" coming to town.

Noo need for alarm! Last year, like toretm said, being the first year, people didn't know what to expect. The condos around the Hangout are literally on top of the stages, so they shut the shows down at a reasonable hour (when i was at grace potter there were just as many ppl jammin on the balcony as there were in front of the stage almost).

SO things couldn't go until four in the AM like some other wilderness-based festivals. I must say they gave the headliners very reasonable time slots given the area that it's in. And the shows were plenty loud

Judging by the poster though, MMJ isn't a headliner right?? As long as I get two hours I'm happy as a pig in poopoo (and why the &%$# would foo fighters headline over MMJ in the 1st place?? sheesh...).

based on the speculation time slots that were posted on the inforoo boards (some of the major artists have announced what day and time they're playing on facebook/twitter.. MMJ has not) it would appear as if My Morning Jacket will go on for 1 hour and 45 minutes Saturday or Sunday night on the main stage right behind the Foo Fighters or Paul Simon who will go on to play a 2.5 hour set.

Here's what all they've dug up so far:

Friday
WSP, 8PM (website)
Bassnectar (website)
Slightly Stoopid (Website)
Medeski Martin & Wood (Website)

Saturday
Foo Fighters (Website)
Primus (FB)
Pretty Lights (Website)
Umphrey's McGee (pollstar)
Johnathan Tyler & Northern Lights (Pollstar)

Sunday
Paul Simon (process of elimination)
Ween (FB)
Drive By Truckers (FB... but the post was removed)
Old Crow Medicine Show, 7pm (FB)
Amos Lee, 3pm (FB)
Xavier Rudd (website)
Galactic (Website)
Michael Franti & Spearhead (website)
Trombone Shorty (other tourdates fri & Sat)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an impromptu late night surprise set by our boys though. It seemed as if those were happening left and right during the festival last year.

Nice, Tyler.

5 stages?

http://www.spinner.com/2011/02/01/paul-simon-foo-fighters-widespread-panic-anchor-hangout-music/

P.S. I can't stop thinking about being on the beach with you fine folks, listening to My Morning Jacket, and just smiling from ear to ear.

As the date gets closer we'll need to round up a list of all the forum people who will be there and plan a meet up.

Ohhh, me too! The more I think about it, as nice as a long open-ended set would be, the atmosphere at this one will be what makes the times timeless.

Is this the first Jacket show ever played on a beach? Will we witness history? Will Jim go it barefoot like the olden days? Will all of the gulf coast sand be melted into one shimmering sheet of glass beneath our feet?!

And Tyler, I think you're on the money about the set time, but how did you extrapolate that number? If it plays out like last year, they have two stages facing each other on the beach: the main one and another big one.

I think the boys will get to play the main stage either before paulie simone or the fooey fighters. (How could Paul Simon fill 2.5 hrs?? I've never seen him live, but dang....)

"This year's Hangout Music Festival, which takes place on May 20-22, will feature headlining sets by Paul Simon, Foo Fighters, Widespread Panic, the Black Keys and My Morning Jacket."

This is from the spinner site. I think we will get a pretty decent set as far as time goes. Especially since they are being considered a headliner

toretm

Very impressive return. Good karma, perhaps....

"Last year was also an awkward inauguration as the festival temporarily rebranded itself, at the last minute, as the Concert for the Coast, generously donating 100 percent of the profits to Gulf Coast relief, following that massive oil spill that had the entire country up in arms at the time."

i got a crew going down.  havnt pulled the trigger yet, but its a done deal.  probably about 15-20 people.
