I just read that. Fuck me is that upsetting. I know--boo hoo we still get to see MMJ and so many people wish they could be there but can't, but I'm still going to bitch if this is true. I really was banking on a 4+ hour set. Part of the reason we are spending the $$ to go to Bonnaroo was based on that prospect. I'm going to stop now before I go over the deep end.  :'(

It is a huge let down for me also.  I was trying to talk myself into going and dealing with all bs that goes along with roo but now I'm not so sure.

I'm trying to come to grips with this and here is what I have come up with. Florence and the Machine playing in California on Sunday the 12th of June so most think that she is a lock for Friday. The What stage could very well look like this on Friday.

Florence and The Machine
Decemberists
MMJ
Arcade Fire

MMJ and AF time slots are confirmed and Decemberists are confirmed for Friday as well. Hopefully Bonnaroo doesn't decide to have the Decemberists close out the Which thus conflicting with MMJ. They should put Lil Wayne or something as the Which closer IMO.

It really is hard to digest having spent A LOT of $$ already to go (Flights were 800 each) in hopes of seeing the boys do another late night epic set but when I really think about it, is 2 hours less of a MMJ set going to ruin my weekend? Hell no!

Now, lets talk about what kind of set we are going to get if it is only 120 minutes. I figure 18-21 songs and since the set is short they will cut some usual songs like 'Thank you too!', 'Wonderful' ect in favour of tunes that are a little more rockin. Also I calculated that if you didn't sleep you could listen to Circuital about 260 times between its release and the start of Bonnaroo on the 9th.

IF true, this is very upsetting.  And it would probably mean I am out.

I understand that the earlier slot is probably the more "high profile" slot, but it would really be a shame if they had to stick to a 2-hour time limit and couldn't really stretch their legs.  I'll be sad if I've missed out on the epic Roo sets of years past.   :-\

I have a ticket lined up, but I'm waiting until the official lineup is out to decide if I'm going to use it.  Thankfully my ticket buddy is pretty understanding   ;D

have to agree here. if they play a 2 hour set, i'm out.
don't rock bottom, just listen just slow down...

Ah, I want a late night as much as the next person, but the one/two punch of mmj/af is still going to be ridiculous.

Late night acts are announced in April according to a thread on Inforoo, but then again EVERYTHING with Bonnaroo has been behind this year. I really hope this isn't going to stop MMJ forum folk from going. I mean the weekend is 96 hours long and MMJ being 2 or 4 hours shouldn't wreck a weekend of amazing music. Don't get me wrong, i'm as bummed as the next guy about this but its Bonnaroo and the lineup without additions is already beyond sick so...

Fair enough, but after catching them live last summer, I can't imagine anyone not enjoying themselves, at the least.

Did you see AF do Rococo at the Juno's on sunday? Wow! My first AF show was in November and they absolutely blew me away. I used to hate AF, i mean really hate them. After Neon Bible came out I started to like their tunes I would hear on the radio and now I am a full on AF freak. Not saying that 1 live show will do that for you but I promise, as a fellow PJ superfan, you WILL enjoy AF.

You are the resident PJ superfan right?

I don't like AF at all. There will have to be some major additions for me to choose Roo over Waka now...

What a bummer.  Bonnaroo earned major points in my book after the solid lineup this year, but not giving MMJ a late night set is just wrong.  Maybe they moved their set to 8-10 because they are renting a rain machine for only 2 hours in case the boys don't cause a torrential downpour as in years past...

While it is indeed a bummer that MMJ will allegedly play the 8-10 slot on Friday, it's still MMJ at Bonnaroo!!! You know they're gonna bring it no matter what time slot they're given. Carl has stated that Bonnaroo means as much to the band as it means to the fans -- I'd say that's a verbal guarantee that they won't disappoint.

And of course, you just never know what could happen between now and when the schedule comes out. While I don't doubt the validity of the poster who provided us with this nugget, all we're going on is hearsay information right now. Still wouldn't be surprised to see MMJ late night. But either way, I'm going to MMJ at Bonnaroo and I'm going to have a hell of a time.

And the silver lining here is less chance for conflicts! Bring on Dr. John & The Meters!

This concludes your daily dose of optimism.

I'm basing my decision on roo on the schedule for sure.  If jacket gets a open ended set I'm 90%.  If not, then it'll be based on conflicts because I'm not in to the headliners that much excluding buffalo.

this. If jacket gets said tim slot, i'm gonna need few conflicts and maybe some good artist additions. we'll see in the coming weeks, we'll just see. I don't mean to say that its going to be a boring set, I just think with that set time and the release of circuital there will be few chances for old gems and awesome covers

Bonnaroo had one redeeming quality, MMJ's late night set...wow...
but come on...there's nothing sexy about poop. Nothing.  -bbill

God I hope that is wrong.. . I bought my ticket and help organize a nice sized group of friends so I'm pretty much commited to going but a pre-headlining spot leaves such a sour taste in my mouth...

Has AC/Superfly completely lost the pulse of their fans?

I've seen them.  I reeeeeallllllly don't care for them.

The lineup is solid, but in terms of unique acts you can only catch at Roo, it's a little light this year.  Granted those unique sets all have the potential to be pretty epic (superjam, Dr. John performing Desitively Bonnaroo, the possibility of Jack White with Loretta Lynn and/or Wanda Jackson...).
