Red Rocks/JacketFestWest 2011

So I think I mentioned before that my national sales meeting is during the same week as this in FL. It turns out my last day there (morning sessions) is the same day as the show. We are not supposed to book flights out before 3pm. Major bump in the road. I had to ask my manager for approval to leave early & she agreed!  Best part is that I was able book my flight this morning from ft lauderdale direct to Denver. Leave FL at 7:30am & arrive in Denver at 9:30. The company pays the cost of whatever my roundtrip would be from jersey so I only end up having to eat about $100. I might even be able to expense that too.

Either this thread or the facebook event page might be a good place to handle logistics for that for those who will need it. Depending on how many I have in my car, I might be able to make a run to the airport before heading to Red Rocks.

we were speaking about it this weekend and i think if we're all aiming to get in Tues night, we can share a rental car---? (ky-think you're coming in wed AM so someone can pick you up i'm sure)..

also emailing with soulshine last week and she was recommending renting the party bus thing from your cabin, crispy..we have enough people going i would think? (HH if you guys wanna drive over and hop on, too>)...we should look into it for wed and thurs night or at least thurs night...that way no one has to worry about drinking...? we should book it early since there are a lot of us. crispy's place could be the pre-tailgate (and then those not staying at crispy's can make their way there to join the bus) ....just might make it easier? i don't have much experience with party buses but i'll give it a whirl..

great idea penny.  we rented a car and are staying nearby at a sheraton but i'd be glad to drive both nights to crispy's cabin and chip in for a party bus to red rocks.  after all, it's gonna be a party, why drive?

Haven't worked those details out yet.  How far is your place from the airport?  If it's not too far then I could probably just get a cab...

The party bus sounds like a good idea, and I would guess soulshine is sure they would be okay with going to and from the cabin, since she does know where it is. I'll give her a shout about it. That's the sticky part about this, because it's about an hour's drive up from Denver or Red Rocks, and at least 30 minutes from Boulder. Definitely not a cab ride, lil sis. We are going to have a few people up there with cars, and looks like a few are renting, so we'll be able to arrange rides to/from the airport.

I think since we are planning to get in Tuesday night, we were going to get a hotel by the airport, and pick up the rental car Wed. morning, and make the drive to Crispys after that. Any idea what time you're getting in? We could probably just hang around and wait for you.

I was leaning towards a hotel by the airport for Tuesday night. I'd much rather make the drive to Crispy's cabin in the daylight Wednesday, instead of late night Tuesday after a long flight. I don't think it'll be a problem to wait til you get in. I think your 11:30am arrival will still leave us plenty of time to get to the cabin and hang for a bit.

I'll keep you posted on the exact times, hotel, meeting place,etc. as we firm up the plans and get closer to JacketFestWest!!

Hey Tyler, I saw this earlier but forgot to respond, so here it is. You are way welcome to come up and camp out at the cabin any nights you want to -- but the place is actually about 45 minutes up into the mountains from Boulder, and Boulder is down on the flats (check out the map). You'll just want to keep that in mind for timing I guess. Getting to Cheyenne from the cabin will take almost 2 hours, I think.

woah, a lot has been added since i last checked this thread.  and i like all of it!!!  i'm hoping to fly out on the tuesday party plane too & would love to do the joint car rental.  maybe we should get 2 what with all the people & our luggage... 
unfortunately lil sis & i missed the planning session @ mtn jam & there wasn't too much time for discussing, well, much of anything ;)  has anyone booked their (tuesday) flight yet? 

also very down w/ going in on renting a party bus to and from the show.  it's a really good idea being that it's a bit of a drive & the show related activities and whatnot.  there will definitely be enough of us to fill one up.  good idea gang

Also- my kids went to Bassnectar last Saturday and they report there were heavy-duty searches. It was a lot more than just the usual quick look in bags. My daughter's BF had his headband taken away, son's GF had pot confiscated, etc. 

Now, maybe this was done on Bassnectar's orders. The poor dude has been pelted like crazy by glowsticks wars-- (just search YouTube Bassnectar + glowsticks). Maybe someone who has been to other RR shows this summer can report on whether this is a new policy for all shows.

I didn't buy at the Roll Call pre-sale because it only allowed for will call pick up, and I didn't want to mess with that on show day. The will call booth is at the bottom of the complex, far from where I like to wait in line.  So I bought my GA tix from TicketMaster and already got them in the mail. There was no mention of any special Roll Call lines or seating or I would have reconsidered. I will be pissed if they changed things after the fact. Perhaps the roll call tickets will be specially printed souvenirs but that wasn't enough to justify going to will call for me.
