Red Rocks/JacketFestWest 2011

i'm starting to contemplate going to this over phish @ the gorge. there are alot of reasons but ultimately it'd be alot easier for me, i've never been to CO / red rocks before, and i have several friends out there that i need to visit. i'd love to stay with you all @ chez crispy but i don't have any camping gear (hello, nyc'er w/o a car) and some friends of mine that live there might want me to stay with them. they are serious music fans .. in fact they just got hitched AT red rocks last weekend  ;D

also ... i need to find a ticket  8)

question: is GA the most desirable? i'd assume yes but i've never been to red rocks. i guess if you are up front you miss out on some of the scenery during the concert. there are a ton of GA tix on stub hub for what a ticket should cost after ticketmaster fee's (or just $10 more)  :P

I'd say yes, and there's still plenty of scenery if you're up front.  You can always look back up the slope every now and again too (if you can tear your eyes away from the stage)!

And I think there are still GA tickets available on Ticketmaster, right?

What makes her even more awesome was her idea of what we can do: "see Colorado and the rockies, go to breweries, and see MMJ"

Here's how it's looking - roughly 1 month til I get my bar results. Assuming that's favorable, my job prospects will expand. That's the real obstacle. Student loans kick in in June, so I need to be rolling by then. A lot of the doc review jobs I've been seeing are paying decent, but require a bar admission. As long as I've passed and I can land one of these doc review contracts, I think we'll be able to swing it. In the mean time I"m just toiling away at whatever temp positions I can get, but I've got a wedding this weekend that will take a chunk out of my budget since I'm in it.

if you can cut 80 dollars a week off your budget that's 1380 dollars.. i know for me I plan on staying around the house during the weekdays (hangout fest week excluded) to work out in the yard and catch up on some TV shows.. and hit the beach on the weekends which is pretty cheap to do if you do it regularly.. i'm also recycling beer cans to offset the cost of gas prices

I don't even think we have a budget to cut from. Things are so tight that our only social experience is monday night trivia which we allow ourselves to each have one beer. i don't go anywhere so i don't have to pay for gas.

Not meant to complain, it's sort of been this way for a decade because I've been a student for about that long.

However, it's a good thing I never took the job I was discussing with some of you because that would not have afforded me the time or money to go.

question... on Red Rocks website for the flaming lips show it says GA is 1-25 and 61-69. So if I buy GA (which is cheaper than reserved) does that pretty much garuntee I'll be in the very back. It wouldn't even make sense if if gave me the option of the two. I'm confused. I already bought GA tix for the MMJ show and am now regretting that mucho.

My understanding is its first come first serve so if you get there before the opener you are pretty much guaranteed something in the front section

If you get there by 6 PM you won't have a problem getting in the lower section. If you have GA you do want to make sure you get the lower section. My wife and I got reserved since were coming from work. Plus if it rains we can wait it out. Most of the time if it does rain it will only last for 20 minutes but you will freeze your ass off.

I'm signed up for the Kayak and Priceline price watch also. Heading out from Newark - Denver. Roundtrip started at $375.00. dropped to $322.00, and are now at $343.00.

There are three flights that I'm following, leaving Tuesday 8/2, and there are still plenty of seats available on all three. It seems that these same flights hit their cheapest at around 4-6 weeks from departure, which at last look was right at $300.00.

I'm going to hold off booking to around 4-6 weeks out, unless the flights start to fill up quickly,or fares  drop to $300.00 or less.

With the way gas is going up, I am not sure airfare is going down in price...
Personally, I think $325-350 is reasonable for a roundtrip from NYC...
